I think they will have some (2) of the better skill kids in the region. I don't think they have the best running back though. The Richland kid is IMO.

I agree, the region will not be as strong, tip to bottom.

3 sophomores. Sherman, Alo, Theilges.

Did Sherman play varsity last year? What does he play?

Hey those are some pretty big predictions for D1 players in Lamoure. The Stemen kid from a couple of years ago was close but not any body now. They are good but not D1 prospects. If you are small you better be running 4.2 to 4.4 sec. 40 yard dashes. If you are a big lineman you are 4.8 to 4.9. Alo is not even close. I think the back from Richland is close but I'M NOT A COACH. He is very fast and bigger than any Lamoure back.

Johnson -

Alo is going to be a sophomore, plenty of time to continue his development. Talk to me when he has graduated.

Have you seen Olson play? Tell me of a more athletic, explosive D back in the state.

Brady Thielges is a more complete back than Griffith and Griffith is not likely to be playing RB in D1. Kayne is a great 9 man running back, but I'll take BT on both sides of the ball over him. Thielges absolutely has the ability to play in college.

There ain't no ND kid running a sub 4.4 (lol @ 4.2) and I doubt you find a lineman on NDSU or UND's team running a 4.8.

I don't know much about 9-man football...but as far as i can tell from reading this thread, LaMoure shouldn't be playing 9-man, but maybe the MIAC or NSIC would be better competition for them. I'm surprised to learn about all these future D1 players, they shouldn't have a game within 21 points if it's true. Maybe they'll play MSUM in a non-conference game to get a worthwhile game.

Fair enough, let me restate for clarity. These are my opinions.

I think Anthony Olson has D1 athleticism.

I think Brady Thielges is capable of playing football at the college level, D2 at a minimum.

Quinn Alo has potential D1 size but is very young and needs time to develop. He needs to make it through a full season healthy so that we can evaluate a greater body of work. I may have been a bit aggressive in my earlier assessments of him at such an early stage in his career. This is my bad. I do think he will develop into a very good player.

Listened to Lamoure vs W/L game on the radio. According to the radio announcer Lamoure isn't very good but they won big. Brady Theilges had over 300 yards rushing. Sounds like they have a lot of youth starting lots of sophomores and freshmen. The radio announcer said the line for Lamoure blocked poorly for a majority of the game, scary to think what Brady can do if his line figures it out.

Listened to LLM game. Radio guy seemed to think they shouldn't be ranked or receiving votes yet. He said Thielges had around 257 I think. He mentioned 300 but said he had added wrong.

I've seen LLM. 2 seniors that play. Quite young and inexperienced. Seeing progress each week. The way Thielges runs, if line and 1st year QB keep progressing, they have chance at a home playoff game.

Wow, does anyone have a clue what is going to happen in region 1? Because I sure don't. Three games in and I have no idea who's going to even be close to playoffs.

really? seems semi obvious that the top 5 in run's latest rankings will be competing for 4 spots.

Does Hankinson have injuries? They got beat bad by SC on Friday.

NGS only beat SZ by a touchdown, yet NGS is picked high in all posts and SZ low in all posts. Easily could be any of the top 6 teams making a run for playoffs.

Hankinson had many players on the ground/puking some said. SC controlled the game and eased into the win at the end. SC played a totally different game versus the pirates compared to the lamoure/SC game. I think lamoure will be glad they got to play SC the first game. Could've been a different ending.

NGS overrated IMO. SZ did lose to SB by 3 TDs at home. I would have NGS and SB on the same tier if I were to guess on rankings.

Flip, would you put SC and Lamoure above or below those two teams? Curious.

If I were forced to bet I would put them above. I don't have a good feel for how the region will play out. Lots of unknowns.

This website seems to be fairly quiet this year, but there is some real good discussion going now so I will throw in my two cents. A lot will play out in the next two weeks as LaMoure LM plays Napoleon and South Border which are the 3 undefeated teams.

Region 1 is very balanced this year. There are no really strong teams, and no weak teams. The Sargent Central/Hankinson score was pretty surprising as both are pretty good teams.

The playoffs are up in the air and I am guessing there will be tiebreakers, but I will throw out a prediction:

1) South Border
2) LaMoure LM
3) Sargent County
4) Napoleon

LLM 14 NGS 0 at the half. Olson kid from Lamoure has 4 picks and 2 td receptions at the half.

Lamoure over Napoleon by a good margin. Does that change anything in the Region???
