Region 1:

1 - Brady Thielges, LLM
2 - Kayne Griffith, Richland
3 - Blake Bosch, South Border
4 - Greg Breker, SC (more of a fullback, but a load)
5 - Mason Madcke - EK

What about Olsen-LLM and Zirnhelt-SC, both are fast and very great backs from their teams. Zirnhelt delt with injury half the year and came back and ran all over Richland on 8 carries(2 of those TD runs). SC missed him this year. Olsen has speed and vision, he'll cut anywhere on the field and is shifty.

Can't argue either either of these, I do think Brekker and Thielges are better from their respective teams.

Nice article in the Grand Forks Herald today about LAE's RB Jaron Moor. Sounds like he deserves to be one of the Top RB's. Thoughts?

I think the debate over top runnings back in Region 1 was clearly decided Friday night as Thielges showed he is on a level above Griffith, in my opinion.

Or just maybe Thielges just might be on a better team?!!!

Yes, he certainly is. I just think Brady is overall a more complete back, no disrespect to Kayne at all.

Region 1: I only believe there are 3 running backs who deserve to be mentioned as Top Running Backs in the state.

1. Brady Thielges-LLM: In a class by himself. He is a playmaker who has played with a line that is inconsistent at times, but he still has the ability to break any play loose with his ability to break tackles, read running lanes, and out power people. He decievingly very fast and quick as well.

2. Kayne Griffith-Richland: Definitely the fastest running back I saw this year. He is Mr. Everything for Richland, so he gets a ton of carries. His line is also inconsistent at times like Brady's, but he has the speed and vision to hit creases very quickly. If he gets bigger/stronger, he could be quite a complete back.

3. Blake Bosch-South Border: Has the best line I believe, but what impresses me most about Blake is the competitive edge he plays with. Definitely the vocal leader of a strong Mustang team. He ain't the fastest, quickest, or biggest, but he WILL get yards because he has that determination.

I think based on a total body of work over career i would put Bosch at the top, followed by Thielges and finally Griffith. But if we are going entirely on this season alone I think you definetly need to put Griffith on top. It's impossible to argue with the stats he has put up this year. All three of these backs are very close though. It's almost like 1a 1b and 1c not 1 2 and 3.

Griffith has the stats because thats what Richland has. Dont get me wrong, his a great back but his stats stand above others because of the fact that he gets 35-45 carries a game. Im sure other region 1 backs like Bosch, Thiegles, Zirnhelt, Olsen, Belmore and Lenzen could get close to or above his stats averaging that many carries a game. These players share snaps, Griffith gets all of them.

None of them have the speed that Griffith do so i'm going to disagree with you. He gets the carries cause he is a very good player. Putting some of the other backs on this team don't do the same thing because they don't have his speed and aren't the same type of backs
