Just a gut feeling but I am taking Lamoure - LM over Wyndmere Lidgerwood this week. Thielges, Shockman, Olson, Meicklejohn(sp), Jordahl and Alo find a way against the two headed monster.
We plan and God laughs.

After going 1-4 last week in Region 1 I will try this again: I've got Wyndmere over Lamoure in a close game (single digits), Richland over SC by 18, SB over Ellendale big, Napoleon over EK big and Hankinson over SZ big.

I'm just curiou if there is a reason multiple people are picking Lamoure over WL. I haven't seen Lamoure play so thats why i was wondering

First of all, please understand that my record of picking games is atrocious.

However, since you asked, here are the 4 things that caused me to pick LLM over WL this week.

1. Logan Shockman is back for Lamoure, playing very well in his season debut last week vs Hankinson. Shockman is a FCS D1 prospect and an absolute game changer. I know its only one player but Lamoure probably doesnt drop at least 1 of their 2 losses wih Shockman healthy.
2. After a slow start by his standards, Brady Thielges is now getting the majority of offensive touches and LLM seems intent on establishing the ground game. Thielges may also be an FCS D1 propsect. Might be the best RB in the Region (although Griffith and Bosch may argue that). I see LLM using Thielges to control the clock and keep Vazquez and Illies off the field.
3. Anthony Olson has the ability to defend one of the two headed monster man to man. No one else in the Region can boast that. This will allow LLM to get pressure on the QB and if WL has to go to Vazquez at QB, like they have previously this year in tough moments, that takes way a recieving threat.
4. Last Friday's score of the WL vs SC game. SC is plenty tough but something has to be up with WL for the score to be that close. It could be an aberration or it could be the start of a trend.

I give LLM a shot this Friday also, but have a little different reasoning. I think Logan is a good player, but would be surprised if he were ever to play a FCS D1 down. Thielges is good and will have to play huge if they are to win. I don't see the Sargent Central game as much of a factor in giving LLM a shot at winning. I don't think (from what I have heard) that Jeff played on Friday. I heard he was hurt in practice and sat out. WL is not a very good running team and with the wind last Friday and Jeff not playing I would guess that they were forced to keep the ball on the ground. I would compare it to last years Hankinson/Nap game where the wind was blowing like crazy and Hankinson sold out vs. the run and game the state champs their only loss of the season. What I look at in giving LLM a good shot is the head to head of Hankinson/WL and the Hankinson/LLM. The people that I have talked to seemed to think Hankinson was the better team vs. WL and that LLM was better than Hankinson. If Jeff doesn't play this Friday, I could see the game not even being very close. If he does play, it should be a good one, and I would take WL.

I apologize to the nine-man fans on this forum as I don't follow nine-man as much as some of the other classes, but what year is Logan Shockman? What positions does he play? And what D1 FCS program or programs are looking at him? Thanks!!

Logan is a Senior. He is being recruited by UND for sure, not certain of others. He plays LB, OL, DL. I was not aware that Jeff missed the SC game, that would remove my #4 item as a factor.

If jeff plays that game its entirely different. Not many teams can take away their best player on offense, special teams, and arguably offense and still be the same team. But forget about his talent for a minute, he has been the leader of that team for 2 or 3 years. The leadership, work ethic, and intensity he brings makes everyone else in that program better. Him not playing is as much of a mental and emotional blow as it is a talent one. I would think he knows how big this game is and if there is anything he can possibly do he will be back on the field friday.

I disagree that Hankinson is a better team than WL....just not seeing it at all. That's my opinion though

I dont disagree with a single statement you make here. He is a special player who impacts the game and his team in a variety of ways.

LaMoure LM looked very good against Hankinson even though they had 4 turnovers and 2 touchdowns called back due to penalty. The improvement has been due to several factors: return of Logan Shockman, Brady Thielges getting healthy, and Jarod Meiklejohn gaining experience at quarterback. A lot of names have been mentioned in previous posts, but there are two other guys that have played well all season - Dalton Hamlin and Nolan Alber.

There is a lot of parity in Region 1 this year. Injuries to key players have and will continue to be a big factor.

It seems to me that region one beats the heck out of each other every year. The most resiliant team will be the one standing at the end as always.

Maybe, maybe not. Anyone can call the obvious, just thought I would go out on a limb. EK has continually gotten better, if they dont pull off the upset, I do think it will be closer than many think.

well it won't be a 50 pt game bc Napoleon can't score that much, but I'd guess something like 30-6
