I will take WL to win though after losing to NGS twice last year these guys are gonna be fired up. Reminds me a lot of when WL went to Hillsboro in 2010 and knocked of the number one team in the state. That kind of atmosphere anyway but I doubt it will be a blowout like that was. I take WL to win the Region beating NGS by 7 in a tough one

like last season?

Buckle up boys, going to be a wild finish. Easiest road to playoffs, no one. Is it possible for a team with six wins to NOT make the post-season? Toughest? Perhaps Hankinson. Dont see a good senario for SC. Four wins wont make post-season. Regardless, two/three pretty decent teams will have to pack it in after Oct 12.

Veit played OLB and RB. Experienced, solid player.
Birnbaum played ILB and OL. Their best defensive player and emotional leader. Was playing at an All State level in my opinion.

They are both missed greatly I would guess.

Not sure how Veit got hurt but based on what I have heard, the circumstances around Birnbaum's injury are unfortunate. My understanding is that he will not be back this year.

Veit is a knee injury, not sure if he will be back at all, doesn't sound like it. Birnbaum is out for the season... Sad deal.

Birnbaum is an all state lb no matter how many games he misses. He is a force. Hope he recovers

Is Birnbaum injured or does he have something much worse? The way you guys are posting has me worried.

I was not there and did not see it, however, I have spoken to people on both sides and there seems to be many differences of opinion on the legality of the hit. It ocurred on an interception by Lamoure, some say it was well away from the play, others say he had a chance at making a play on the ballcarrier. Regardless, its a tragedy for this young man. I am confident in saying that this player would not purposely attempt to hurt another player.

Sure hope player is OK. Without knowing the extent of the injury, I hope he can make a full recovery.

I saw the play. It was one of those where you are watching the ballcarrier more than the blocking. The block was certainly on the same side of the field as the ballcarrier and it seemed to be in the same area.

Had no knowledge of the injuries to the Hankinson players when this comment was made. Sorry to learn that.

Its too bad the refs have to be so poor in the high school games...they seem to ref so kids have a chance to get hurt...and who do you complain to?

If a player uses a cheap shot and injurs another player they should be suspended for the season...

So what should we do to improve officiating?

Also, really hard to take you seriously when you used words like "injurs."

I rarely see cheap shots from any team in the Region.

There is a very good chance that we will end up in a 3 way tie for 2nd in Region 1.

5 wins will definately not get a team into the playoffs from Region 1 this year, 6 probably will not either.

I would say 7 wins are necessary. What is the tie breaker for a 3 way tie? Just for discussion purposes, say WL, SB, and LaMoure all end the season at 7-2, tied for 2nd in the Region. WL beat SB, LaMoure beat WL, and SB beat LaMoure. What is the tie breaker?

I was incorrect, 6 wins will probably not be enough.

Regarding a possible 3 way tie between WL, South Border and LaMoure. Since they all beat each other, it goes to point differential. WL is +4, LaMoure is +4 and South Border is -8. I suppose I should show my math. WL over SB 30-14; SB over LaMoure 28-20; LaMoure over WL 26-14. So WL and LaMoure tie on that tiebreaker so it goes back to the first tiebreaker which is head to head and LaMoure wins that by beating WL. LaMoure would get #2.

But like the post said, this is just for discussion purposes. There are two games left to play and this is just one of many possible scenarios.
