The teams in 9 Man

No surprise no one from this region ended up undefeated - the state champs probably will not come out of region 1, but as a whole....region 1 is top to bottom the toughest out of the 4. IMO (opinion = fact)

Record - remaining schedule
Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 7-1 (@Napoleon)
Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 7-1 (WL)
South Border 6-2 (Hankinson)
LaMoure-LM 6-2 (Richland)
Hankinson 5-3 (@SB)
Richland 5-3 (@Lamoure)
Sargent Central 2-6
Edgeley-Kulm 1-7
Strasburg/Zeeland 1-7
Ellendale 0-8

Schedule works out very interesting. 2 in the playoffs are playing each other for the region. 4 teams alive for 2 spots and they play each other. 4 teams eliminated from contention and they play each other.

Imagine the mess if Hankinson and Richland win next week.

If Run's playoff scenarios are correct, then here's a summary (I think):

Napoleon is either 1 or 2.
W-L is 1 with a win, 2 with a loss and a LLM loss, 3 with a loss and a LLM win.
LLM-win and you're in, could be 2, 3, or 4. Lose and you're done.
SB-win and you're in. If Richland wins, SB is in win or lose. 3 or 4.
Hankinson, win and you're in, lose and you're done, 3 or 4.
Richland has to win and is only in if SB wins. If SB loses, Richland is done. Could only be 4.

It is possible that 2 teams could have 6 wins and not make playoffs.

I'm willing to bet you at least three region 1 teams lose on Saturday. What do you think of that Run?

What a fun year it has been to watch Region 1 football. Six teams having a shot at the playoffs and no undefeated team in the Region. It was a crazy and exciting year. I would say the Loboes are the suprise team of the year in Region 1 with most people picking them to finish 6th or 7th in the Region. They have really come on in the middle of the season and I expect them to go deep in the playoffs.

Kiper - I would gladly jump on your bet also. I would predict 3 - Region 2 teams to go down tomorrow. But that's why they play the game.

Well if Duffner didn't get hurt it sounds like region 2 could have had a sweep. Pay up

You could have made some money, I wasn't joking when I said I was willing to bet.

As far as region 1 goes I told a friend a few weeks ago the biggest difference between the region this year and last year is the top end teams. Last year Napoleon and Wyndmere were good enough to win a state title and this year it doesn't look like anyone is. I still think the 5 and 6 teams in region 1 make the playoffs if they are in any other region.

Well if Brady Thielges didn't start throwing up at halftime, the second half may half been a repeat of the first half for LaMoure LM.

Give some credit to nrs. Their d line stepped up and closed all the holes, wouldn't of mattered who ran the ball.
Theilges sickness wasn't a factor. It was the fact that nrs didn't quit. Llm had the game won and for lack of better terms, let up thinking it was over. Llm converted a first down with about 2 min left and it was a game clinching celebration. Then nrs drives with no timeouts. Amazing finish.

Was thinking along the same lines. I listened to it and Lamoure had so many chances to put the game away and didn't. They let NRS drive 50+ yards with no timeouts in 30 seconds. If they tackle NRS one time in bounds w/o giving up a 1st down they probably end it.

My comment above was in response to Kiper saying "if Dufner didn't get hurt, Region 2 could have had a sweep."

NRS did play well. NRS did have a nice drive by getting out of bounds and using the clock. The last play was a nice throw and catch. Before that, LLM knew the 1st first down they got was a big one, but obviously everyone knew they needed 2 first downs to close out the game.

Sickness wasn't a factor, come on. Did you notice he didn't go in for the second half and they never gave him the ball near as much in the 2nd half. Did you notice in the first half he broke a lot of tackles and finished nearly every run by falling forward. He never did that in the 2nd half at all.

Theilges sickness wasn't a factor.

How can you say that wasn't a factor?!? The poor kid had the flu and still went out and played, you could totally tell he was struggling the 2nd half. NRS did play a good 2nd half but with Thielges not 100% it makes a huge difference. What about the refs not throwing a flag until the 4th quarter?!? LLM's line was being held the whole game, numerous clippings, Meiklejohn got hit 5 yards out of bounds and anyone that knows football can see that. I see Cavalier representing the East at the Alerus center.

so your saying six of your teams are good enough to make playoffs, yet only one your teams made it past the first round! pretty good call on that one
