Playoffs!

The teams in 9 Man

Postby DiggerDan » Wed Oct 11, 2006 4:13 am

Regions 3 and 5 are set and since then play each other in the first round, those games will look like this:

Maddock (#2, Region 5) vs. Central Valley (#1, Region 3).
Interestingly, these two teams play each other Friday night at CV.  How would you handle that game if you were a coach?

Lakota (#2, Region 3) vs. North Central Benson (#1, Region 5)

Post the remaining matchups once they are set.

Regions 1 and 2 play each other
Regions 4 and 8 play each other
Regions 6 and 7 play each other

im not positive my source is right, but i think Westhope lost to Rolla/Rock Lake, so it will be Divide County vs. Westhope first round.

Mott/Regent beat New Salem tonight, and hettinger got beat by richardton so M/R is #1  and the other 3 are in a tiebreaker situation for #2.  M/R had their final drive to end the game last 8 minutes.  It was crazy hard hitting football.

napoleon beat milnor north sargent 58-6 when they played in the regular season...has anything changed to the point to expect something other than a blow out?

edgeley and hillsboro haven't played, but it also has the potential to be a one-sided game. the burros seem to have quite a bit of momentum (in my understatement of the season)

They are having all of the championship games in one day this year, for some reason.

The Sioux have a game at home on the 11th and it starts at 1:00. Hard to fit a high school gme in on that day as well. It makes sense to have all the games in one day. Costs everyone less money. Unless the state decides to make it 2 sessions. Then it isn't a good deal at all.

Yeah, there was a thread awhile back under the open topics about this. 9am for a football game isnt right.

You are right, 9 am is early, but what is a better solution?? Last year they played three on the first day and they started the first one at 11 if I am not mistaken. When you only have so many facilities, you can only do so much. It gets to be a $$$ talk when you start renting the facility for more than one day.

What would be wrong with starting them at 11 again? The average HS game is about 2 hours long, maybe a tad over.  That would put the 4 games of the day to end somewhere around 930 or so which is about normal for a friday nite. Im no expert I guess, just disagree with a 9am start time.

i'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but more than likely they are trying to screw with media. i'll get done with work at like 11:30 p.m. thursday night and if we end up with a team (especially a 9-man team) we cover in one of the state championship games, i'll have to drive to forks and then be ready to throw together a state story after about five hours of sleep.

could be wrong...but it is my take on it...of course i'm also grouchy because jamestown is hosting state cross country this year and i'm probably going to have to cover that instead of going to a playoff football game.

of course, i also thought that the media would never be charged for a computer line or radio line at a state event. guess i was wrong there.

but like i said...i think i'm just growly today. looking to make no. 1 in someone's corn flakes....maybe someone made no. 1 in mine or something.

For some teams in the west the championship game would be at 8 since there are on mountain time.  Thats just an insane time for a championship game!!!
