don't understand how napoleon can lose to one of the bottom tier teams in the region and still be ranked ahead of divide county. divide county has beat the same teams as central mclean, scoring just as many points and allowing less. who does the voting for these polls anyway.

Sportscasters and Sportswriters

The issue here is that Napoleon has a dynasty for football...so that will influence the voters; and they also are closer to those major cities where the sportscasters/sportswriters are located...Divide County isn't really close to many major cities so they (and others in that area) tend to get overlooked.

Yeah, Divide County should be ahead of them.

W/L should be #1 until beaten....

The other 4 unbeatens should fill the top five, whatever order....and the RV teams should be NGS, MLS, and North Border...Benson County should be just on bubble.

I think N-G-S should only stay in poll if they would have lost to a rated team. But to be shutout at home to a 2 win team is a big loss. And 1 of Hankinsons wins was against a no win team. Luckily the poll has no bearing on the playoffs, which is good.

This is not college football, thank goodness, the poll is just something to talk about. I think not being rated in the top 5, with an undefeated record, can be a great motivator. Good luck to all teams and I hope the weather holds.

For those of you who don't agree with the polls, It's a good thing the playoffs don't go off of them, a good chance to shut people up...but I would still venture a guess that Napoleon is one of the top 5 teams in the state.

Wyndmere/Lidgerwood was 5th in the final poll last year. I'm pretty sure Hankinson wasn't ranked in 2009. These polls are just something to talk about and keep the Sports desks busy on slow news days.

Hillsboro in '08 didn't finish the year #1, I don't think they were ranked a lot of that year beacause they lost to Richland early in the year. I think '09 MR was undefeated and ranked #1 in the last poll and never won a playoff game. Polls mean nothing during the preseason, mid-season, and post season.

Since the 9-man playoffs don't start on Tuesday, as in recent years, there should be another poll before the playoffs start.

playoffs have always started on saturday, however the last regular season game for most teams was on tuesday.
