St. John @ TGU-
Both teams are 2-1. There are also a pair of 3-0 teams in this region (Bottineau and North Prairie). So this is a hugely important game for play-off implications. This should be one of the most competitive regions in the entire state and could likely have a "game of the week" type matchup every week. I think it will be a close one.
Prediction: TGU gets it done at home. 32-28
North :Star @ New Rockford-
These two teams have a combined 1-5 record right now, but take away the 3-0 Nelson County team and this region is a combined 1-10. My feeling is that these are the #2 and #3 teams coming out of this region and this game could determine who gets a 1st round home playoff game and who goes on the road. Theres a lot at stake.
Prediction- North Star gets it done on the road, through the air. 48-28

Score I saw was that NRS beat SJ 18-6. Is that correct? Then the records of these two games would be wrong. SJ would be 1-2 as well as NRS.

How surprising is it that a team with an enrollment of 100 boys is having success at the 9man level?

Why is a school the size of Bottineau even in the 9-man division?

current system allowed them to opt down...they jumped at the chance (as did 2 other schools).

6 total schools opted down in the current plan. However, 5 of them were 9man in the prior plan as well. Botno was the only traditional 11man school that opted down to 9man.
However, looking at the 2022 plan it looks like Botno's time in 9man will be short lived. It shows that MPCG, Surrey, Tioga, and Hatton/Northwood are the only teams eligible to opt down.

Were they given that option because of their recent performance the last few years or because they met the enrollment requirements?

recent results because their enrollment should put them up into 11-man requirements
