You guys get so bent up about this east west thing too much. The deal is Class A has been won by a team currently in the west for 13 straight years. That's every year since existence of Class A. I know Harvey won from the East one time, however I was at that game and Stanley lost that game more than Harvey won it. Every year the East gets all upset that the west talks about the semis being the championship game and so far they have been right every time except one. Until the East wins in A and the west wins in 9-man thats the way it will be viewed. Cavalier people talked the same way the first year they were in A down from a 3-peat at AA and they got beaten in the championship game. I think this year is the best chance in recent memory for the East to win it. I think Cavalier has the team to do it, however the winner or the Velva/Watford game is going to be the favorite and thats just the way it is. I hate to do this, but I think in an even contest like the Watford/Velva game the home team has the edge. Last year Velva wins at home, this year I think Watford wins at home. I hope I am wrong! Either way this one gets decided by 10 or less. Velva will have to play their best, mistake free game of the season to pull it out. Turnovers may decide this one as well, as it did last year. Watford had a couple costly fumbles and a Turnover on downs.

I think that The two best teams in the state are from the west, I went to a Cavs game, they are good, but I don’t think they would beat either of the remaining teams in the east. I believe that the Cavs win by 10 because of their ability to pick up yards when they need to and because of smart coaching. I believe that they are going to state this year. Watford City by 7, Watford city has too many weapons to cover all at once, plus the coaching of Fred Fridly. This game won’t be determined by the Offence at all. It’ll be who can play the best Lock down Defense. Overall all 4 teams have an equal chance at it right now. I thought Linton would make it farther than they did, but look what happened. The fact is you dont know what will happen untill it happends, dousnt matter if it is an Eats or West team.

Good luck to all 4 teams, play hard, play smart, and enjoy every second of it.

I think Velva has the defense to stop Watford's weapons. I also think Watford has the defense to stop all of Velva's as well. I do think it will be a defensive battle and the defense will decide the game, however I think it will be a turnover or a big stop after a turnover that will be the difference. As far as coaching edge, I don't know how you can say there is an edge either way here. Sandy is only slightly behind Fridley in every major coaching category and has done so in 10 fewer years coaching. Don't get me wrong Fridley is one of the top coaches in ND high school football history, but so is Sandy. I might also argue that in last years game a coaching "error" by Fridley may have helped lose the game for Watford. Early in the game he went for it on 4th down near mid field and they didn't get it. This was the momentum swing IMO that won the game.

I feel the west deserves to talk smack about winning state. An eastern region has won the championship once but I define Harvey as a western town.

I second that.....Talks cheap.....west can back it up...actually it isn't Sandy or Fridley doing the talking, or any of their players....its usually a fan or someone on the end of the bench...Just my experience.

So let me throw a scenario out there....lets say Watford wins the game by 10.....and then they play the east and lose (with no injuries from the semi's)....then the west semi isn't the Championship...Right? lets say the west semi game is a 20 point spread.... and then the east loses the Championship game by 10....then the west semi is not the championship, Right?....

I'll give the west trash talkers this....if in fact the west semi game is a 6 point ball game and the winner comes east and wins by 14 to 20 points...then they might have a point....but for some reason (that I wont reveal) I don't think that is going to happen this year...regardless of the weight the last 10 years carry.

i will pick cavalier just because of what everyone else is saying because i dont know much about the east but i think watford city will win 13-7 it will be a tough game with both teams having very good defenses. i think a lot of people r giving fridley too much credit, i mean ya fridley is a great coach dont get me wrong but sandy has done his share of good things with less then great teams and both coaches constantly r putting out good football teams. this will be a great game to watch this is a complete toss up for me

Cavalier by 6- This is a toss up but I'll go with Cavalier because tradition does matter.
Velva by 8- I'd say by more if Weidler is playing. Is he? I think this game comes down to just how much can Jacobson do on his own. I think he wins the positional battle against Mack. I give Velva's backs a big edge over Watford City's, but if Weidler is out that narrows the gap a bit. Velva controls the line of scrimmage in this one and that'll be huge.

Well the word is that Weidler has another appointment on Wednesday and they are saying he will be ready to play on Saturday.

A toss up?...I see Cavalier being the Favorite...Playing at Home and Haven't been really challenged all season (I was at every game) also Traditionally they have lost being in this position as well as won. Why do I think they will win? because of the group of athletes they're not only good, they are like one big family.

Watford and Cav go on to Grand Forks............Play Hard

Just out of curiosity, what is meant by the comment that traditionally they have lost in this situation as well as won? What situation are you talking about?... I don't think the Tornadoes have lost a home play-off game since 2001 (quarterfinals). In the past 15 years Cavalier has played in the semi-finals 6 or 7 times. They are 4-0 at home in the semi-finals.

I'm not saying they can't be beat. I personally don't think that they will unless they beat themselves. I've seen Cavalier play a couple times this year, including last week. I do think that this will be one of Cavalier's biggest challenges to date on the season.

I'd say if you went back to the 70's , 80's, and 90's for his remarks because Cavalier had a lot of good football teams back in those days and only have one championship to show for it.

Is Weidler playing today and if so does anyone know the condition of his leg and how effective he could possibly be with only 3 weeks gone by since he broke his leg.

Yes Congrats.....Rush the man and bust the routes.....good game plan, which was the only way to beat Cav...and milnor figured that out and executed well...Smith was banged up bad....if it had a been last week when he went for 5 td's milnor may have went home with their tails between their legs....but that how the pigskin bounces. Huge congrats to the tornadoes for a remarkable season with fierce athletes....Its time for some round ball :D

Hats off to Milnor/NS. They came into Cavalier and outplayed the Tornadoes. First time Cavalier has lost at home in a play-off game since 2001. Can't think of many times it has happened before then either.

I was impressed at the physicality that MNS played with. They stepped up and just punched the Tornadoes in the face. It was obvious Cavalier was not ready for that as they seemed to have no reply. There were 4-5 times throughout the game when a hit was made that made the entire crowd go "OOOOOOHHH" and I can't think of it ever being from a hit that Cavalier made against MNS...

That QB, Hansana (SP?) is one heck of an athlete. I heard he was a good one and he lived up to the billing.

Congratulations to the Tornadoes on a great season. I got to watch 3-4 games and they had a good team. Keep working hard and keep the Cavalier football tradition strong!

Best of luck to MNS and Velva in next week's championship game.

cavelier by thirty?! are you guys out of your skulls?! you obviously didn't look at the matchups very well. all mack does is bomb the ball up to athletic recievers. mns' d-backs are way too athletic to do that on. not to mention mns' front seven dominated the whole game. cavelier was not big, or strong, they didn't even put up a good fight! six picks, not counting one on the two point conversion- the worst performance i've seen since peyton manning threw six against the chargers. thanks to all of the brilliant people that overlooked the bulldogs, mns will be representing the east in the dome this friday.
