Region 4
1.Brady Lund-Watford
2.Nolan Kalberer-Watford
3.Cameron Morman-New Salem
4.Seth Ewoniuk-Heart River
5.This is a tough one. Either the other kid from Heart River, Grady Houghton from Killdeer, Devin Frank from Grant Co., and i believe Karson Knutson also from Watford would be a starting back on any other team in the region if he didn't have Lund or Kalberer in front of him.

Eric Kuntz from Rugby by far the best in region 2, possibly best in the state

I have not seen him play, but have heard that is is very good. Please tell me about him and why you think he may be the best in the state.

I have seen him play a few times and i think he has ran over 300 yards 3 or 4 times. He must be around 20 TDs on the year also. He might be a little small but has amazing speed and running ability. I think he has the potential to play college ball any where in the state.

Briar Bornemann from hazen is a very good running back and he is only a freshman, he should be pretty good the next 3 years. He could be #5 in the region

Kuntz is very good, but 30 vs Cav? Come on....Lervik had 70...but other than that i dont think any one has had a good rushing game vs cav.

20 TD on the Year very impressive! What's his size saying medium is 175 lbs 5' 8" for Rb in the high school ND level!

I think if i got the stats right from Rugby's school website, he had at least 150 yards against Cavalier..

If I added it up correctly...Kuntz has 1661 yards and 18 TDs rushing (he is also 20 for 29 extra points on the season and 1 Kickoff Return for a TD and 1 Punt Return for a TD)

Thanks for setting everyone straight on this. The only running back I havent seen yet is Everik from North Prairie. Kuntz is a man among boys. Tough to tackle because of his strength and with his speed he is tough in the open field. Best running back in the state!

1. Kuntz
2. Smith
3. Crockett
4. Leverik
5. Jelenik

Not to down play these two, but I have seen two of their games and they are pretty average. If teams didn't have to worry about the passing game, they wouldn't do much. The kid from Rugby on the other hand seems to be getting a lot of yards without much of a passing threat on his team.

well actually that is down playing them.....because the team possesses the total package is not their fault...thorlakson's 60 yd break out run against NP is what sparked the offense and defense to seal the deal...he is way faster than people think...Smith is also fast and can punch the ball 3 4 5 yards when they need it.

For some reason during their easy part of the schedule this season they decided to let Mack run a lot more and this took away yards from the 2....they also play the other side of the Ball real well.

They have been talking about region 2 as much or more than 4. And they had a top 5 too.

I think region 1's backs would rank this way.
Please pardon my spelling.
1. Tanner Zetocha (Oakes) Hasn't played since he broke his leg a few weeks back, but very skilled.
2. Derek Roemmich (Linton HMB) Hard running full back who has to be taken down low.
3. Gene Smith (LaMoure) Runs hard and very well suited to their double wing attack.
4. Tyler Ust (MPCG) Big athlete that could play anywhere. With a better team he would be well known.
5. Isaac Biss (Milnor/N.S.) Makes people miss and will uses his size to finish runs.

Roemmich or Smith is number one without a doubt. Smith is very shifty and Roemmich is just a hog. He runs a little high but hits the whole hard and is doing a real nice job for the lions.

You are right about both Smith and Roemmich. But, I still think Zetocha is the pick of the bunch. Look at his numbers before he broke his leg. Oakes didn't have another threat on the team and he still was getting the job done.

when did he get hurt again ? what week and who did they play before the injury ? I will agree with u that he was putting up nice numbers but roemmich is running behind one of the most unexperienced line linton has ever had and he is still running at an all state pace.

What I recall, is that he got hurt vs. Griggs/Barnes County. What I heard was Oakes was up 16-0 when he broke his leg. Oakes went on to fall thirty something to sixteen. I believe they were 3-1 at the time he went down.

I don't think Roemmich's numbers are that great, but I still rank him second in the region. I wouldn't down play his line. I think the Linton line is no worse than second in the region.
