No respect for the defending champs? The east sure knows their FB...

Their is plenty of respect their, yes they are the defending champs but I don't think they are head and above everybody this year like Southi is in AAA. But no doubt Velva is the team to beat. Its early and other people think they have the team to beat them this year. Minds can change as the season goes along. Will be interesting to see.

I don't think people thought Velva was gonna get rolled last year by Cavalier. If my memory is right Velva was ranked #1 the whole year. Ya take Matt Anderson off last years CAV team and they are about as good as they are now and thats not good. That was pretty much a one man team for the most part. Velva had the better TEAM. Velva lost some pretty dang good players last year too. Best part is proving people wrong.

ndfan your memory serves you wrong.  Cavalier was #1 all season and everyone in all the papers said they were gonna roll velva and it was gonna be a blow out.  So there was no respect last year.  But its a new season and things can change.  I know that the Velva team isn't gonna overlook anyone.  Every week the focus is on 1 thing and thats this fridays game.  Time will tell who has the best team this season.

I don't think my memory is wrong. I'm pretty sure the first poll of the season had Velva 1, Cavalier 2. Most of the time the polls give the state champ the benefit of the doubt as #1. I know Mr. Thingstad browses the board, I'm sure he has pretty good memories of that year since he beat my Tornadoes :(. Maybe he can tell us who was where in the poll.

Velva was ranked #1 in the poll all year in 2005.

Cavalier was #2 in every poll.

I stand corrected if that is the case.  Cav was the defending champs from AA so I thought they would have gotten the benefit of the doubt in the opening pole.  and every pole until they got beat.

The word in the East was that there wasn't a west team that could beat them(i don't care what the polls said). If anyone here read the discussion on the grappler last year(they had a topic on A football) they'd know what i'm talkin about.

Harvey shut down new rockford and velva gave up 20 some points to them, maybe harvey will move up after that game...
