MNS played Carrington during the monsoon of 2013 and MNS is a very balanced team, so their passing game was nil. Carrington was also healthy when they played MNS. When they played NP their backs were beat up and from my understanding their QB got hurt early in the game. when Carrington was healthy they are/were a very good team, they had some very bad luck this year.

Not making excuses just an explanation of why people might be picking milnor.

Multiple injuries completely derailed Carringtons football season. Plain and Simple.

YEP...If Carrington's QB/LB/Kicker/Punter doesn't break his collarbone in the second quarter of the NP game, the outcome may very well have been different. I predict MNS not only beats NP, but beats them soundly.

Lot of parity in "Class A" this year. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day but I do feel the weakest region was the Larimore/NP region. DLB and Velva is the big toss up this week. Should be a great game.

I honestly believe everyone is playing for second to last years champ Hazen, especially if Bornemann has his head on straight. Does anyone realistically have a shot if Hazen doesn't beat themselves?

Isn't that why they play the game

Is beating yourself not a real loss?

No worries about the weather all 4 games should be about 47 deg. partly cloudy and light 7-10 mile hour winds. Perfect football weather. No excuses may the best teams win.

Saturday, November 2nd
R2#2 North Prairie (8-2) @ R1#1 Milnor-North Sargent (7-2) - 1:30pm
R1#4 Linton-HMB (7-2) @ R1#2 Oakes (7-2) - 1:30pm

R3#3 Velva (6-3) @ R3#1 Des Lacs-Burlington (9-0) - 1:00pm
R3#2 Berthold-Our Redeemer's (7-2) @ R4#1 Hazen (9-0) - 1:30pm

Couple of key factors to look at:

Hazen is Hazen, they will be tough to beat. I see the game going something like Hazen 42-26. But if Hazen comes out cocky right away look for it to me a very close game as B-OR is a dangerous team as well.

North Prairie has quite the drive to make, and if they stayed overnight someplace it could really affect them (especially the underclassmen). With that said, this game could have potential to get interesting. MNS has the weather in their favor as they will look to fire away and NP will be going with their STRONG run game. MNS 26-16.

Velva and DLB will probably be the game of the day. I really am looking forward to see this game! Velva has a pretty balanced team and you can't forget their amazing tradition...what a great program! DLB on the other hand, is a team that has been impressive especially their superstar/horses. This game should be a battle. I see DLB coming out on top 24-22.

Oakes and Linton. Hmmm what to say. Linton beat Oakes early on which I found surprising... this matchup reminds me of the Velva and DLB game. Linton has the tradition and balance while Oakes has a few main horses/superstars. I see this game going one of two ways.. A.) Oakes comes out hot like the last few games and torches Linton or B.) Linton wins in a close one with the help of their brilliant head coach. I'm going with tradition for this game. Linton 20-14. Linton has quite the bus drive which could hurt them, but from checking the girls VB tourneys it looks like Oakes was out late cheering on their team. We will see who is more rested and focused come game time.

DLB v Velva games was a tale of 2 halfs. Velva dominated the first half, but failed to capitalize on the opportunities and DLB dominated the 2nd half and scored the points. Good luck to DLB next week. Game being in DLB will help quite a bit. Hazen 35-20 is my prediction.

NP only had one big play that was it. Their running game wasn't going to be that good when MNS line is pretty solid up-front. Hats off to MNS playing good game.

I would like to congratulate both the Lakers and Aggies on a game well played. I must say, that was one of the hardest/well played game I have seen in a long time! You could feel the intensity from the players all the way up in the stands. Both teams took care of the ball, only 2 turnovers.(Velva 2-DLB-0) I believe the momentum turned the Lakers way when DLB stopped the Aggies on 4th down just a few yards from the end zone in the 3rd quarter. The Lakers defense was able to stop Velva's running game in the second half. Both teams should be very proud of their performances. The Lakers, if they continue to play hard, will be able to play Hazen to the end and make their first appearance in the Dakota Bowl since 1993 when they won the championship!
