Carrington has enough talent that they should still be AA. And if they hadn't dropped their co-op with PBK they still would be.

And this isn't me complaining because I have no connection to A football. I simply would like to see teams that are able to compete in higher classes do so.

Carrington has had a nice run in AA ball, with virtually no help from PBK, hence dropping the co-op. That being said, Carrington is an "A" level team. Their enrollment does not support the depth needed to sustain a strong program year after year in "AA". This year's 10th & 11th graders will be legitimate contenders for the next couple years, but lets not kid ourselves, they are no Fargo Shanley, they'll have all they can handle with the Oakes & Hazens of "A".

And this is where the real question lies. Would you rather be a tough out in the playoffs every year in AA, or be a top contender for a state title in A. For me, I guess it's a pride thing. You should want the challenge of trying to knock those AA schools and maybe just maybe win a title as an underdog. You just said they have good sophmores and juniors. Why not stay AA for 2 more years, then drop when your talent and possibly numbers (?) dictate that?

in my opinion, Carrington, Rugby, Hazen etc all fit better in AA than GBC and MVE. I understand dropping PBK from the coop, but would have loved for them to stay up in AA at the same time. But our system is based on enrollment figures and with all the different coops of those other two teams that dictates where they play.

Enrollment for top 6 AA schools: 195,173,161,161,159 &142
Enrollment for top 6 A schools: 107,105,102,100,100 & 100
Enrollment for Carrington: 88

I somewhat agree with the underdog argument, but I stand by my statement that Carrington is an "A" level school. The numbers are what they are. Yes, they have some talent that will make them competitive, but like any small school they're just a couple years away from a 2-6 season.

I agree Carrington is a Class A school by enrollment standards. I totally understand them moving down to Class A because their situation allows it. Its not about individual choices and what we as fans decide we would like to see. The administrators have to look at what's good for the program. Right now I can think of three teams that opted to stay up at class A rather than go to 9 man. Velva has been below the 9 man threshold for a few years now And both Milnor- North Sargent and Linton could have both chose to go down. Both teams have received voted in the Class A ballots and I would wager that both will be playoff teams. Its even reasonable to say that had they moved down to 9 man They could be even more dominant with a much smaller travel radius. But their schools situation was to stay up because future enrollments have them growing so why go down then come back up. Maybe Carrington is experiencing the opposite a down ward trend so it made sense to drop when they did. We don't know the whole situation. I do know if things stay as they are I believe Lisbon will drop down to class A in the next plan I should say if they choose too.
