I don’t see anyone stopping Langdon or Lisbon Before the championship game. But, I’m sure there will be a surprise or two. Who has the best chance to score an upset in round one or in a possible round 2 matchup? I could see Carrington getting Oakes in round one. In a possible round 2 matchup, I could see Dickinson Trinity besting Velva.

I look at playoff brackets and I assume this was done by QRF rankings but I find this little troubling this year when we have so many teams that did not complete full schedule this year. Also I look at state polls see that number one team Langdon-Edmore-Munich is only ranked number 3 in QRF rankings and they did play complete season but other two teams above them have not played complete season. Second is Langdon -Edmore-Munich has pretty much dominated again this year going undefeated again but with only having one out region team to play and if you schedule wrong and that team is not top in the region your penalized in your ranking. They pretty much controlled their region winning all their games by 30 or more points I don't see how they are rated 3 which means they don't control where they play. I would have had Langdon one , Lisbon two only for reason they did not complete full season, and Velva 3 based on their common opponent of Harvey/Wells County where Langdon defeated 48-16 to Velva beating them 16-6. It just seems to me that we very well could see the state championship game in semifinals this year but I guess we will have to see how this all plays out.

I also have second question what happens if team has covid-19 positive during the playoffs or has close contact with another team is there season over and by default their opponent just advances or lets say it happens in semifinals what happens winner in other bracket just becomes the state champion.

So this is the official bracket from the NDHSAA website and it has Langdon 1, Lisbon 2, Velva 3, Shiloh 4:
https://ndhsaanow.com/brackets/football ... l-playoffs

So I'm not sure what you are talking about B-oldtimer but I believe the way you said you would have it is how it is so that is good.

QF1: R1#2 (4) Oakes (7-1) @ R2#1 (1) Langdon/Edmore/Munich (10-0)
QF2: R3#2 (5) Bishop Ryan (8-2) @ R4#1 (RV) Shiloh Christian (7-2)

QF4: R4#2 (RV) Dickinson Trinity (7-2) @ R3#1 (3) Velva (9-0)

Both games out west should be good ones! I think both of the top two in the East walk through their matchup with relative ease. Shiloh started out bumpy and has been absolutely locked in ever since, I can't pick against a hot hand. I thought Velva was one of the top teams coming into the season and will pick them to get a tough fought win. My prediction for both of these games is it comes down to turnovers and line play (just like most other evenly matched games).

Not saying it means anything, but can you guys discuss why you picked Dickinson trinity over velva? Just 3 weeks ago in Dickinson Velva handled Dickinson trinity in a game that in my opinion was closer on the scoreboard than it really was. Now the game is in Velva.

I didn't see the game from 3 weeks ago between the teams. I think I'd lean towards DT over Velva. Here would be some of my reasoning. 1. Velva clearly (using you as a resource) outplayed DT and barely squeaked by them by less than a td. If DT plays marginally better, there's no reason they shouldn't be 6 points better. Which could very well give them the win. 2. Home field means nothing in this game. The only thing that makes Velva a difficult place to play is the fact that they typically have a strong team. In my opinion Linton is the only team I am familiar with that I think has a home field advantage. That is only due to both teams standing on the same sideline, which is only an advantage because Linton plays all home games that way while road teams on do it once a season. 3. I think DT has an advantage because I think they play in a significantly stronger region. Velva just snuck by Region 4's number 4 seed by a touchdown.

Certainly go with your Velva prediction, but this was a strange take.

Scoring in that game went as follows:

Velva leads 6-0
Trinity leads 7-6
Velva leads 12-7
Trinity leads 14-12
Velva leads 20-14
Trinity leads 21-20, two minutes remaining in the 4th quarter
Velva 26-21 final. Long pass play, then they punched it in with under a minute remaining.

Great game, back-and-forth, statistically pretty even. Should be a good one again.

what makes Velva a tough place to play is they put their rock band PA speakers at field level and point them at the visitors, since visitors share the sideline with the fans and play music constantly. Basically makes sideline communication or coach to field communication non existent

Pretty sure Linton put the visiting team on the opposite sideline this year due to Covid. Will be interesting to see if they keep it that way moving forward.

To me it didn't feel different than other fields. They have the track around the field which takes the fans out of play by adding distance between home fans and visiting players. And don't many teams play music when the ball isn't in play now days? I know Velva didn't put speakers between the sidelines and the players, so they must have been set up on the track, behind the players. Nothing dirty about that.

Linton started putting teams on opposite sides last season when a new coach took over. Linton first used its current field in 1978, and from 1978-2018, teams shared the same sideline opposite from the grandstand. This was coach Imdieke's idea, because he didn't want players obstructing the view of the fans. Linton was always a great place to watch a football game for that reason. I haven't watched a game from the stands in Linton since the opposing team is on the near sideline, so I don't know if that really impacted the view of the fans.

Don't take this as too much griping, their PA guys know how to do it. Playoffs PA was down on the track pointed at visitors sidelines, nothing illegal just much much closer than a PA at the top of the stands. Music plays the entire time the visitor is on offense and cuts as soon as the ball is snapped which still isnt illegal just some gameman ship. Which I said is what makes it tough.

Most PA teams don't know when to play that to help their own team, velva definitely does and does it effectively. Thats not to discredit velva as a team they are always well coached and ready to go football wise.
