Oak Grove lost Westphal for the season with a broken leg. He was a big part of their O and D lines, this will hurt them.

Grafton's QB, Jake Hanson got hurt in the 4th qtr. of the Park River game. Doesn't look good for him to be back for the rest of the season. Big blow for Grafton. Hanson was a big part of the offense.

From what I hear he broke his wrist and will be out 4 to 6 weeks.

Ya, I know it was his wrist. Broke it pretty bad from what I heard. Hopefully, he might make it back, but I bet we won't see him playing till basketball season.

Velva beat Bishop Ryan 13-0. Bishop Ryan runningback Anthony LaFontaine went down in the 3rd with a knee injury. It did not look very good.

After seeing games this week I think this will be how the season rankings will finish in the East:

1. Shanley
2. Valley City
3. Wahpeton
4. Central Cass
5. Lisbon
6. Grafton
7. Kindred
8. Oak Grove-PC

IF, and the key word is IF, by the time he is able to come back grafton is in the running for that 4th spot I think he will play again for sure. IF by then Grafton is not in the running I could possibly not see him playing the rest of the year

Central Cass running back Ben Birrenkott had a very good game against NC yesterday. QB Mitchell Scheer also threw some good passes and hit his recievers with good accuracy.

Is Hanson a junior or senior?

He's a junior. I think you have all the IF's right, nd fan. I just don't think it will happen.

O well thats not so bad then. Obviously, you never want to see a kid go down, but I always feel much worse for the kid when it's his senior year.

Does anyone know how good the back up quarter back is?

Most likely replacement will be Joey Demers, also a junior. Not a bad player, but not as good a throwing arm as Hanson, in my opinion. Also not as experienced, since Hanson was the starting quarterback all of last year as well. Assuming that at the beginning of the year, with Hanson, Grafton was probably going to be middle of the pack in the East, Demers will have to sharpen up fast. By mid September Grafton will meet Lisbon and Central Cass, two teams that were also supposed to be middle of pack teams. These figure to be must win games for Grafton if they hope to see a playoff spot.
