The new commers to AA Wahpeton, Shanley, St. Mary's they are going to have some success.

Wahpeton is a top three to five in AAA every year, but no more underdog roll for Wahpeton, they will be the team to beat in 2009.

I think by up and coming he means teams that didn't do so well last year that might make a splash this year.

Wahpeton and Shanley are going to bring it. Wahpeton has probably the best back in the state, and Shanley has a good group of players and a great head coach.

In the AA East, Wahpeton will be both the coaches and Pigskin pick.

The biggest thing for Shanley to become more competitive is confidence. They'll get the numbers out, but need to get some wins under their belt. In 2-3 years, they should be a really tough team.

Valley City loses Elliott, the other wing back, I think the FB, and Andal (sp). That's alot, but Roerich seems to have his stuff together.

Lisbon needs to find some linemen to replace Stenson, Carter, and Durkin. But return Shell and Coykendall.

My pick as an up and coming team is Kindred. They will get better this year. They were young last year and their younger kids coming up i've heard are studs. By 2010, Kindred should be a tough team.

Losing Elliot will hurt VC minimal, Randy Moss attitude not in highschool sports. The young guys in the backfield will now be seniors this year and will have alot to prove. Andel lit up most centers pretty good, his little brother may play the same position ( not sure) played some in the past, but the little brother is almost 100 bigger and may be a force. Have to wait and see what Roehrich does and how he plays the new team. Lotta big holes to fill there in VC.

Central Cass will have a top Defense this year with returning 9 of 11 starters from last year on defense

I saw Central Cass play Valley City last year and yes, their defense was tough.

There is no excuse why Central Cass should not be a power (or atleast above average most years). Some of us remember the days when Central Cass was a power house. Something always just seems to be off in Central Cass lately. Maybe this is their year. There defense is good; their offense is the problem. Can they score enough to beat teams like Wahpeton, Lisbon, Shanley, etc

From MaxPreps-
Last year:
Central Cass (3-6 in AA) scored 98 points and gave up 142 in 9 games = 15.8 given up per game
Wahpeton (7-3 in AAA) scored 246 points and gave up 217 points in 10 games = 21.7
Lisbon (9-3 in A) scored 292 points and gave up 107 points in 12 games = 8.9
Shanley (2-8 in AAA) scored 138 points and gave up 244 points in 10 games = 24.4
Oak Grove (5-4 in AA) scored 147 points and gave up 138 points in 9 games = 15.3
Valley City (11-1 in AA) scored 327 and gave up 148 points in 12 games = 12.3

So it looks like Central Cass is above average. Lisbon's defense is always tough. Wahpeton and Shanley will be better, simply because they don't have to get pounded by the Fargo schools. Valley City was tough last year, but lost most of their studs. Oak Grove typical has a solid defense as well.

Looking forward to the season!
