Early 2009 Predictions

Postby baseball18 » Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:33 pm

How will newbies Wahpeton, St. Mary's, and Shanley do?

Who returns a lot of players and talent? Who loses a lot?

For the AAA schools moving down I will say Wahpeton has to be the favorite, and SM should be one of the top schools. They return their QB, RB, top WR, some solid linemen and a lot on the defense.

very nice i wouldn't put Oak Grove up that high though. There JV has really struggled the past couple of years.

Well they shut out Beulah this year 19-0 could have been worse an Beulah was one the better teams out West, Carrington Lost to Hazen the first game of yr in Hazen 22-0 was better game then score it was 7-0 at half time, They also put up fight with DL 7-7 at half ended up losin 21-7 due to to Turnovers in DLs Red zone, Lost to Valley 26-16, lost to Oak Grove 22-19 in a really good game both teams, Got Ripped in Central Cass an lost 9-8, then beat Rugby 26-7 an that same rugby team handled Minot Ryan so i dont know you tell me where they should be next yr with lots returning!

I think that Wahp. will be able to go very far almost every year if they could compete in 3A this year. I know that all they do is run, but sometimes all that matters are the yards and points scored.

Heller was out for last four games with shoulder injury.

St. Mary's will be number one. They are returning their entire backfield with john welk, AAA all conferance Drew Carlson, and Justin Klabunde at QB. John Welk is the fastest kid in the state and had 157 yards in 3 quarters before getting injured last season. They will also be returning Ryan Huber who was number 4 in the conferance in recieving and a solid young recieving core. Their line will be around 220 across the board and have 3 returning starters on the Offensive line.

Carrington top 3 out west. Decent chance Ben Wolf from DL might transfer down.

Just a short time ago I thought that AA was the weakest most boring division in North Dakota High School football. With the new face of AA I think it is the toughest most exciting division in football for next fall at least.

Wahpeton brings in a program that is competetive with the big boys and will absolutley murder the lower teams in AA with their style of play.

Shanley sits right in the most populated part of the state with a new high school in thier back yard, I can see a new emergence of Shanley and St. Mary's with recruting and transfering athletes by the gobs with a twinkel of success they will see at the AA level. You will see a state championship out of one of those schools in the next four years.

Lisbon has enjoyed some success in the old days of AA and had a nice fit in A the last couple years. They will remain a playoff contender but will get pounded by the Wahpetons, and Shanley's, even Valley City has had their way with them the last couple years.

Valley city proved a coaching change can go a long way, they will continue to compete for a playoff spot for the next few years.

Casselton, Kindred, Oak Grove, and Grafton will be in a dog fight week in and week out to try and compete.

The west, the top five of DL, St. Mary's Beulah, Ryan, and Trinity will pound on each other during the season and I think the playoffs will be remarkable with 8 solid teams, not two or three like in the past.

Wahpeton is my favorite, for next fall.

Sorry Tiger, Carrington will not make the playoffs this fall, maybe the year after though.
I like your optimism, keep it up.
