How does the point system work?

and i was wondering why Oak Grove i ranked lower in the standings even though they beat DL. does the point system work around the standings in wins and losses?
a great player can win a game but a TEAM can win EVERY game.

8 voters

5 points for a 1st place vote

4 points for a 2nd place vote

3 points for a 3rd place vote

2 points for a 4th place vote

1 point for a 5th place vote

This week Minot Bishop Ryan was a unanimous # 1, picking up all eight 1st place votes = 40 points.

It's just my guess, but I think the voters look at a team's ENTIRE schedule when voting, not a game here or there.

You're right that Fargo Oak Grove beat Devils Lake, BUT they also lost to Rugby.  Rugby is only receiving votes in this week's poll. Devils Lake also has two non-conference wins over two traditionally strong West Region teams (Dickinson Trinity 32-7,  and Watford City 34-13.)  Beating teams like that by 20+ points has to figure into the voters thoughts.  Just my opinion.
