AA - Week # 1 Schedule

The teams in Class AA.

Postby Diamond D » Mon Aug 27, 2007 6:44 am

Expect Devils Lake to be playing 9-man if they have less than a .500 season this year.

DLHS is already in talks with Montana for some 8-man football, so they are going right around everyone else.

BTW:  The change was made because of enrollment numbers, not because someone had "tears in their eyes".

Come on guys.  Lighten up.  Is it really that big of deal?

Devils Lake is an interesting case.  They may well just dominate AA, not saying that they will, but they surely would have struggled for years to get 3 wins in AAA.  They either get to be the wolf or the meat.

Belcourt - 610 students

DL - 580 students

who should be in AA and AAA?  Schools can stay up if they want to, for example shanley is AAA even though they only have 304 students, but if they're not in the top 16, they play AA, its not a matter of just not wanting to.

Don't forget that the NDHSAA criteria for Classes in football isn't based on "Total students," but "Total male student enrollment numbers in grades 9-12."

I think DL going down is the  dumbest thing ever!!!! wrecks AA Football.......... Teams already struggle the way it is why  they need a team that big to come an make  it worse so what if they had 3 bad seasons in AAA if thats the reason Carrington,Centrall Cass, Valley, an who ever  had them bad 3 season they should drop to A jezz mabey cry there way down to 9 man wow  thats just my thought it wrecks AA football just like Trintys Recruiting does hahaha looks like they made some bad recruits this yr ! But ya its stupid!!

so why didnt you make a big deal the whole time Belcourt played AA football, they have more kids than DL, but since they didnt win all the time it wasnt a big deal? so if DL didnt win last week and goes 0-9, would it be that big of a problem? is it just because DL can feild a good team this year that they should have to play with the big boys. if they would have played AA last year, they most likely wouldnt have made they playoffs. they have a good team this year and they worked hard to get there, so let them have it. they are just another team.

Actually, the criteria is based on total male enrollment grades 7-10 and is looked at again every 2 years.  So even tho DL might have a larger 9-12 enrollment than some schools, maybe their 7-10 enrollment is smaller because of declining numbers....meaning in the next couple years they will get smaller so they got dropped down a level this year.

NativeGolfer is confused!  The enrollment level for Class "A" basketball it 325 kids.  Trinity has 160 so Class "B" is where they belong!!  As far as football goes Trinity's current enrollment would allow them to drop to Class "A" in football if they wanted to.  As of now there are NO plans to do that because they compete quite well in the double "A" ranks.  ONE loss doesn't change that.....

Scruffy is right.....Bball goes by total 9-12 enrollment when determining class and Fball goes by 7-10 MALE enrollment only.

There's always ppl complaining no matter who moves up and who moves down.  I think it is where it should be.  Belcourt has more kids than DL therefore Belcourt should be placed in the higher division.  Unless Shanley and St. Mary's start competiting again I really think they should move one of those two down and move DL back up.  DL will always have consistent numbers, whereas St. Mary's and prolly even Shanley too are losing numbers just about every year.
