Yep heard about that yesterday...definitely an interesting wrinkle in the season.

the result of the st mary's issue makes it shanley's season to lose

St. Mary's will still probably end up winning the west. That would set up a first round playoff game at home against a #4 seed. If they win, the suspended players would be back for a second round game.

Chances are they wouldn't have seen Shanley until the title game, and that probably doesn't change.

Should be interesting to see how they respond against Trinity this weekend.

St. Mary's still has to play: Trinity, Watford & Bishop Ryan...it'll be tough to win the west with those games left.

I talked to a source who is related to someone within the St Marys football program. I'm not sure about the truth of this rumor, but I heard only 2 of the kids are being suspended. I'm not sure how that could work, but it's what I heard.

That is not true. All players involved will serve the 6 game suspension.

Wrinkles, wrinkles, I love wrinkles, it makes the "what ifs" even more "what ifs" in the season, ought to be a good ending for playoffs...

It's terrible for the other kid on the team. With having Ryan and watford left I don't know if they will end up better than 3rd.

Any other year, I'd agree. This year, however, the west is not as strong as it usually is, and St. Mary's is quite deep. The game vs. Trinity Saturday will tell us a lot about how the Saints play without a few starters that are out. With the Watford loss tonight vs. Ryan, it is still wide open.

Wouldn't it be just as "wide open" if Watford would have won?

From what I have heard st. Mary's lost 8 starter to violations. Regardless of how deep you are there is a reason those kids aren't starting in the first place, but now having to use number 2s and 3s to fill in will make it tough. I think if they still have Krebs they will be alright but if not I think they are in big trouble. Heard they are starting a freshman QB so they will need to be able to run the ball

Haha. I was thinking the same thing when I initially read that reply.

My point was that Watford was ranked #4 in the state and Ryan #5. Ryan beat them by 21, so either Ryan is that good, or Watford isn't really deserving of the #4 ranking. Getting back to the original post, the thought that Trinity, Watford, and Ryan will be too much for St. Mary's (without 5 starters) doesn't seem to make sense. That's all.

Good thing they play the games and don't rely on our predictions, as it's a whole lot more fun that way.

WC and Ryan are pretty evenly matched...it was Ryan's big plays that were the difference...WC punter fumbles a snap...one play touchdown...punt return td....pick six...Ryan made the plays and WC did not.
