Congratulations to the Fargo Flyers. Does anyone know if they have a lot of returning players? Will any of those players tryout for the South High School team? Will they have a chance to repeat their junior gold state championship? 9-1 in the final does not seem like much of a game.

They only won their semifinal game 2-1 over Rugby. Langdon (seemingly a better team than Mayport) got upset in the semis and that was the only team to beat them during the year.

The Flyers return Jordan Dalbey, Adam Halter, Jason Lee, Colin Brown and Finn McCullough for those with a decent number of points. They do lose half of their roster with more than 10 points to graduation, not including those who could try out and make South's hockey team.

Rugby beat the Flyers in the GF tourney. Langdon Park River was the only team to beat the Flyers in league.
Sunday's games were: Richland defeating Watford 7 - 1
Rugby defeating Langdon Park River 6 - 1
Fargo Flyers defeating MayPort 9 - 1

I'm pretty sure Langdon/Park River only beat the Flyers because the Flyers had their backup goalie in. I have no idea why they put him in unless Demarais was sick or something.

According to ndhighschoolhockey.com Flyers goalies stats are Sturlaugen playing 9 games with a 93.6% save avg and Demarais played 7 with a 95% save avg.. The Flyers were fortunate to have 2 talented goal tenders.

Langdon seemingly a better team than May-Port? May-Port beat them 4 times in 2008-09, don't believe any other team beat them more than twice.

I've seen both of the Flyers goalies play and their defense is what saves them. Any shot that is on them their defense only lets them take easy shots. Look at how many shots on net they faced and you will see what I mean.

In the past two years, the only LEAGUE (non tourney) games lost by the Flyers were to Langdon and all of them were Langdon home games (Langdon/Park River this year) or had a Langdon home boy as referee (Mayville- state tourney 2008).
They are undefeated by a team not assisted with a home ref in league play- 2 years running.
Seems odd that the only losses in two seasons were all under same circumstances.

Just saying.....

Never really looked into that. Good point. The Flyers had a well rounded team this year. I don't think they really had a weak point. But who knows what will happen to the team next year because of the new high school going up and a lot of the players are probably gonna be playing for them. But I'm pretty sure they will come up with a pretty good group of players. Ahh, the luxury of the big town teams
