I agree Tollefson from minot is probably one of the hardest hitters in the state.

I don't know about best hitter but pound for pound Brendan Gust from Central may be the toughest. The kid is short (like 5 ft 2 in.) and he laid out Hills from Grafton twice the other night.

I think that is because the west just plays a more physical type of hockey game, where the east is more finnesse

yes i belive that is because in the east it is all about hockey it is the sport to play and everybody there is playing hockey year round always practicing and on the ice and eating liveing breathing hockey so the become better all round hockey players where in the west most players and mainly going for other sports like football baseball soccer and do those basically year round and just play hockey therefor the few that do focus on hockey there isnt nearly as good of off season opportunitys or ice time so therefore they dont get as skilled and play a more physical type of hockey cause all you need is to be big and have god balance and you can mess people up instead of all that fancy crap

The east is more about the skill part of the game. More skating, passing, team work, in part to what you attributed it to: more off-season skating, more year round ice, better competition, more tradition, etc... The west has their share of skill players, just not as many of them which leads to more focus on the physical part of the game. There are also guys that are big hitters in the east, but you notice the guys who score 25 goals more than the guy who gets a lot of hits.

I was going to say that, but I figured it was blatantly obvious.
