What about the Civic Center in Bismarck. I know some people were talking about how the Bobcats used to play there, and that there is still the setup needed to put ice up, if they were to ever open up the possibility of maybe rotating state, it would be cool to go between Fargo, GF, and Bismarck.

Nice article. It would be nice if they had it alternating between venues. If Bismarck stepped up their NAHL team to USHL and built a facility that could hold 5,000 like the UPC, it would make for a great atmosphere like that article said. It would be fun for the kids to play in front of a packed house, and the UP is a cool place to play when there is a lot of people there....add school spirit...and it is quite the event.

i think that the best option would be a rotation for state and edc between fargo and grand forks. edc at one and state at the other rotating. the upc is clearly a better rink than the purpur

I've heard it is much more fun as a player, and know it is better for fans when edc was at the purpur. It doenst take alot of people to get an exciting atmosphere. (there is never many people until the saturday state qualifying games) It can easily get loud in that place which makes any game better. Hearing a few claps in the large up center doesnt compare.

lol agreed clifford. k bottom line, the upc beats the purpur. and if by your reasoning atmosphere is whats needed and the up is too large? then whats the engelstad. watching the game it looks dumb cause its far too large. student sections cheering, free skate sharpeneing and drinks from arena, bright spotlights. UPC is where state and edc should be every year. this isnt grand forks state hockey. its northdakota. the UP is the better choice.

So by your suggestion it can now become "fargo state hockey". Nice idea. UP is nice to have EDC every other year but the State tourny will be a "bust" when it goes to Fargo. Just my opinion but really don't care.

UP was a good choice for EDC but when you have the opportunity to play at one of the nicest arenas in the country why go anywhere else for a state touranment?

i played hockey and from fargo but seriously???? state at the UP center????? wow lol Englestad is unreal and state is lythere and everyone who thinks differently there opinion is straight up wrong (one of the rare cases), edc can rotate but state needs to be in the second greatest hockey arena in the country ( next to excell).
