Fargo North (0-0) Conference, [0-2-0] Overall at Grafton / Park River (0-0) Conference, [0-0-0] Overall
Time: Tuesday, December 1st
Place: Grafton High School

Fargo North goes to the Bermuda Triangle of the EDC this Tuesday night to play Grafton / Park River. This match up is critically important to both these teams because they will likely be playing each other to battle their way through EDC and gain a State berth. North, although 0-2 so far on the season, was rated fourth in the preseason poll by ND Hockey Magazine, with Grafton several below. Grafton has yet to play a game, but they are known to do well in their own rink and no one has yet seen how they will recover from losing a large amount of their senior class from last year. North on the other hand has a good amount of returners that did well in EDC last year, almost knocking out teams that were deemed much better than them.

Result: FINAL/OT
Grafton / Park River - 4
Fargo North Spartans - 4

i see grafton coming out on top maybe, but im gonna guess a close game going either way.. north seems to be struggling this year greatly with only a few guys that can put the puck in the net, and also grafton is yet to prove themselfs this season. this will be an interesting edc matchup.

Grafton was up 3-0 in the second period, north got 2 goals to make it 3-2 at the end of the 2nd. Grafton responded with a goal in the 3rd to make it 4-2, north got two goals the last one with like 13 seconds left in the 3rd.

Sorry for late notice on this game. Came up quick on a Tuesday. Updated scores though. Looks like the 4 spot in the EDC is going to be up for grabs for sure.

What are you saying?

Central and Fargo South hold the 1 and 2 spots respectively.
West Fargo is probably going to take the 3rd spot.
North and Grafton (as shown) are pretty close.

Thus, battle for the fourth spot.
Obviously this is just speculation.

Some of you might be surprised about Red River this year.

How can you count the defending champ out? Sure Central and South are the most talented teams in the state, but year in and year out RR is in the hunt. WF just barely got by both Bismarck teams so how can you put them above RR and not even have RR making the top 4? They have great tradition and they rebuild over and over. They will be in the hunt come tournament time.

That was actually an accident, I meant to put them in the 4th spot. I really don't think they'll have much to show for losing their coach, the goalie that carried them through state, and their captain which held the team together and created the most offense and confidence on the team. I see them along the lines of North/Grafton, and pushing into place with WF. However, I don't see them competing on the level of even South, not to mention Central.

West Fargo and Fargo North play tomorrow, I think this is a game that west fargo can prove that they are contenders with a good win. but I would say a must win for both teams

I think West Fargo should roll North Fargo in that game, but you never know. West Fargo has never really been an offensive team at all, they generally bottle up. That means that any game can go any way. If you play defensively you're at the mercy of the other teams' offenses. But you can pull of upsets easier that way.
Should be a good game nevertheless, but I'm going to keep it to a single game of the week unless it's huge.

It all depends on how well the Bruins defense plays this year. Josh Hooey, arguably the best defenseman in the state, injured his ankle and may be out for 6 weeks.

Central is going to be the best team in the State. Sorry, but the Bruins don't really have much of anything on them. Central is a defensive team and South couldn't put more than ten up on Wahp. The one thing South has going for them is between the pipes. As for best defenseman, he's far more potent on offense than anything else. He's unfortunately not as helpful on defense. He was backed by a very defensive lineup last year, but all he has now is his goaltender to help him when he's aggressive, and that's not exactly what you want to do. But losing him is going to be a huge problem for their offense, but it's at a point in the season where it doesn't matter, hopefully he'll recover soon and it won't hinder the rest of his season.
If anything, I'd say the things to look at for South in being able to knock off Central (I think they're the only team that can barring miracles at State like last year), is their underclassmen defense stepping up and their offense putting more points on the board. I hate to say this, but either Wahp is getting better (Unlikely) or South's offense isn't that impressive either.

or maybe its the fact a 20-0 game against whap with kids getting into bad selfish habits isnt what the coach was looking for. most like moderated passing and such before goals. but giving up two goals to whap is not impressive. central also looked very sloppy lastnight against north, yes they won, but they looked far from the best team in the state at the game lastnight. just my opinion, they made north look much better then they really are, and north is in the hurt bag this year.
