When I have time, Im going to post my thoughts for each time on the upcoming season.

FIrst is Red River
LOSE:
Russel Crary (mr. hockey and 2nd in team scoring)
Jordan Bancroft ( 3rd in team scoring
Kieth howe (top defenseman in scoring and logged tons of ice time)
Bryce Anderson (2nd defensman in scoring)
Ian Leier (Big hits and made some good plays)
Matt Sterjn (decent forward)
Justin Hill
Aaron Meland (got hot at the right time)

Top Returners
Jake Laducer (led state in scoring)
Luke Johnson (4th on team and started top line most of year)
Casey Fugelberg (look for him to be on the top line next year)
Brock Dahl (really impressed me in the state tourney, hard worker)

defenseman
CHris waind (top returning defenseman)

Goalies
Bryan Neis (pretty good in alternating role) THinks hes gunna be the starter majority next year

The Riders return a decent amount of forward talent in laducer and Johnson but lack severly on defense unless they get a nother guy to step up like leier. Only return one D guy saw plent of time in major games. The goalies returning are all very experienced in the alternating role. Look for Red River to contend for #14 next year!

Well first off Luke Johnson may or may not be going back to RR next year...i have heard a few rumors he may be changing schools but again this may just be a rumor....as far as goaltending goes i dont think the riders have to much to worrie about.....Bryan Nies and Mitch Byrnes both put it plenty of time playing varsity this year and will most likely be splitting time next year..i also hear there JV goalie is pretty talented as well...they will have a move some people around to make up for the D they lost but hey thats what they had to do this year and look what it got them...STATE CHAMPIONS

Rumors are almost always wrong. That's why we don't post them here.

although rr loses alot of good seniors they were pretty much picked 14th last year, but im not saying they will win state or do as well but you can never count out a team with such a great coach and tradition as rr has

First of all it will be their 15th state championship next year...and Luke Johnson would have gone to central last year but they wouldn't allow 8th graders to try out..very possible for him to transfer

I pretty sure south is splitting in two for athletics next year so the talent will most likely be spread out in fargo. So I got
1. RR
2. Cenral
3. WF/North
4. South
5. Grafton
6. New fargo school
7. Shanley
8. DL
9. Whap

I completely agree. The grand forks teams will dominate any other team in the state. However i would switch around RR and Central.

RR and Central take every place at state, i heard only two teams will be playing for the state championship and that it the two grand forks teams. man whoever thought out this idea should have thought it up earlier to save west schools from wasting money. we are in alot of economic trouble these days and this would do alot of good for those schools.

central will be the best team in the state next year TALENT wise... it won't even be funny.

of course the most talented team doesnt always win in all so it will be interesting how RR and south do once south is split athletically

This is a 2009-2010 topic, and South will not be split for 2009-2010, so why don't we worry about South splitting up when it actually happens. Based on the teams that graduate a lot of players, I think Grafton-Park River may be hurt the most by graduation and I am not sure what they have up and coming. Any thoughts?

2009-2010
EDC Predictions
1. GFC- Will be the favorites to win it all, only graduating 4 players, T. Spicer, L. Cieklinski, J. Plutowski, and B. Dziwulski.
2. FS- With Bucholz in net these guys have a chance to win every game they play. They are going to lose quite a bit, but will be fine with Orson, Stellrecht, and Hooey.
3. RR- They will be here to start the year but dont be surprised if the go back to back. Two solid goalies in Byrne and Nies. States leading scorer is back in Ladouceur along with Johnson, Fugleberg and Waind.
4. WF- These guys will make the state tourney next year and I see them playing in a semi-final game. Very young team with lots of potential...Sorry GPR you are'nt getting in next year.
5. Fargo Shanely- Yes I said it Shanely and WF will both be better teams then GPR next year, Shanely has a great goalie in Stokke, the kid had a 90.2 save percentage on a team that wasn't very good. Look to see a lot of young guys on this team that can compete.
6. GPR- They lose everything. They lose 8 senior skaters who scored 80% of their goals 82 out of the 102 they had and to make matters worse they lose Monsebroten who gave those guys a chance against BHS in the quarterfinals. Doesn't look good for the Spoilers.
7.Who cares DL
8.Who cares North
9.Who cares Whap

Predictions for 2010 State tourney
1W-Minot vs 4E-WF
3W-BHS vs 2E-RR
2W-Willy vs. 3E-South
4W-Century vs. 1E-GFC
Semis
Minot vs RR
South vs GFC
State Championship Game
GFC vs RR

Predicting South as 2nd seed but 3rd in state? Care to explain? Just seemed really weird you'd rank them 2nd and then put them as 3rd seed in state.

I will also agree with GPR being in the hurt bag next year. They return nearly nothing as for scoring or defense.
South will be second to that, as they lose their entire defensive core other than Hooey, as well as 6 forwards to graduation. They do return Orson and Stellrecht, as well as Buchholz.

I believe that what I ranked them above will be the pre-season poll sorry that I didnt explain that...but come tourney time i see RR and Central playing for the EDC crown at the UPC and not South.

well according to saucesauer red river and central are going to get their own division, or should at least get their own division. and that they should play eachother to get to the state championship game. therefore red river and central could not play eachother in the state championship game bigred22

I said they should get their own league, we will call it the league of arrogance they will not automatically qualify for state, they actually just go straight into the NHL because soooo very many of them have made it
