I cut a few things from my and your guys' posts to keep this less personal.
I apologize for singling out the aforementioned player, it was bad discretion by me.
In a retrospective point of view, I feel that it is the responsibility of the ref to recognize these situations and be far more strict when it comes to misconduct penalties, in order to keep the game safe for players and staff. I do not blame the refs for letting it get out of hand at all, but it needs to be said that the best way to let a game continue to flow is only to call the penalties that are definitely there and any misconduct penalties by the players. Calling 'iffy' things often make players more and more angry, causing events like these.
The coaching staff of either team should also be monitoring what is going on. This all happened after South was already up by 3 goals, and the game was all but over at this point. Coaches need to recognize when to settle down their players and stop things like this from happening.
Hopefully both teams will come to the next games with a view of intent on winning, not getting back at the other team. It makes North Dakota hockey as a whole look primitive when things like this happen.
I'll leave this closed upon gfhockey's lock.
