FARGO – The North Dakota State Class A and Class B state indoor track and field meets will now be held outside due to a favorable weather forecast.
North Dakota State head men’s track and field coach Don Larson confirmed the move Tuesday and said the meets will now be combined into a one day event on Saturday at the Ellig Sports Complex.
Field events are scheduled to begin at noon and the track events will start at 1 p.m.
There will be a full slate of events and the results will be separated by Class A and Class B.
Moving the event outside means there now is a opportunity for area athletes to qualify for the state track and field meets to be held May 25-26 in Bismarck.
Larson said the number of entries each school is allowed per event has yet to be determined, but having the event outdoors likely means a greater number than if it were held inside.
In the event of poor weather, Larson said the meet would be moved inside to the Bison Sports Arena.
