Class B Girls:
1. Allisa Anderson (Benson County) - if she goes out she will dominate - 800, mile and 2 mile
2. Robyn Essler (Garrison) - 800s - would compete well at the mile and 2 mile if wishes to run those events.
3. Sydney Kraft (Rugby) - former state champ in the mile and 800 and is a senoir and has motivation - 800, mile and 2 mile
4. Chandra Yankton (Dunseith) - was injured last year, should come back strong - 2 mile
5. Averi Olson (Thompson) - consistantly tough long distance runner - mile and 2 mile
6. Kade Ross (Watford City) - another senoir with motivation and good skills - 800
7. Katelynn Engh ( Benson County) - very fast and will compete well in the 800 and mile
8. Abigail Waloch (Southern Mclean) - very fast and had a great XC season - 800, mile, 2 mile
9. Asa Smith (Watford City) - great XC season and good runner from last year - 800, mile and 2 mile
10. Lauren Christenson (Rugby) - good distance runner in both XC and track - mile and 2 mile
11. Brooklyn Zinc (Hillsboro) - good distance runner in both XC and track - mile and 2 mile
12. Brooke Shimek (Thompson) - returning state champ in the 800 - 800

These are not in any order of rank. I'm sorry if I left any off of the list, as I'm sure I have. However many of these runners will be in the fray in the class B distance races. I also believe there are some good 7th graders coming up this year.

That didn't take long to figure out :)

And thanks for sharing your educated opinion.. always fun to research and speculate what might happen.. or at least to read somebody else's viewpoint on predictions.

Not sure I would consider Shayla Fossum a darkhorse. She placed 4th in state Cross Country this year. I look for her to have a very successful season. Also, Zink from Hillsboro should be there by the end of the year.

Guess I went with "darkhorse" as she was never rated last year in any of the predictions to be anywhere in the top 10, and she was not rated in the preseason top 12 for track this year. Isn't that a darkhorse? And yes, I agree, once Zink gets rolling, she will be a threat all year.

My DARKHORSE pick in the Boys 800 Meter Run has yet to actually run the 800 but hopefully he's known in the coming weeks.

You don't give big hints like I do

what about Lisbon for the 4x800?
4x8- Hall, Ulmer, Gallagher, Horg.
Hall ran a 2:08 split while Horg. ran a 2:11 open and ulmer ran a 2:08 at the Huether indoor
and Gallagher really hasn't really focused/ran a serious 800

Well Lisbon looked decent last Thursday in the 4x8...but right now the top two favorites in the Region are Kindred (8:37) and Central Cass (8:40-something). Lisbon could be another with a chance...Oak Grove also. (OG's chances get better if Kindred qualifies before regionals).

Yeah, but Lisbon looks like an unstoppable distance squad. That Kieran Hall kid came out of nowhere and he is capable of a good mile too

Before u start bashing Central Cass maybe take a step back and look at what your saying they have a good core of 3 mid distance runners in Utt, Breske, and Zimmerman who run 2:07, 2:10, and 2:12 respectively in their first race of the year and Breske and Zimmermans first ever 800 and then their distance runners in Schultz and Flick who have ran a 2:10 and 2:14 respectively. No doubt about it though Kindred has a SOLID 4x8 and Lisbon is right there too no doubt about it this is going to be a great race at regionals if no one has qualified before and I know these teams have vengeance for each other and will not want to lose to one another. Good luck to all as this is great for Class B Track....a little friendly competition

Remember, the top 3 qualify at regionals this year, so that gives everyone a little more room. And I don't think anyone was bashing Central Cass. :?

I would watch for the Rugby's 4X800m team to be real tough at state. They are the returning state campions. They have run 8:31, but I think they can realistically shave 10 seconds off of that time. It will be a fun state.

The girls 4X800m race should also be very interesting. Thompson is very tough, but Rugby might give them a run for the money as well. Rugby has some very good mid to long distance runners on their team. I also see Benson County really coming on at state in this event.
