Lisbon School athletics

Postby itsmillertime » Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:59 pm

This has been a successful year in Lisbon sports.
State wrestling champs, duals champs
State football runner ups, lost in last minute
State basketball boys
State volleyball
State cross country boys 3rd
Regional cross country girls
Regional girls basketball
Track should go to state both girls, boys

Anybody know if any other B Schools have went to State in 5-6 different sports the same year.

I am not a trinity fan, but their boys programs won state Football, State Basketball, and State Track in the same year. They don't have wrestling or XC, they go to DHS. That means every sport they played in they won. When Lisbon winds state track, we can talk. And they DO have a great track program as well.

Great year for the Broncos. Congrats!!!

Just wait, someone is also going to say it's because "you are one of the biggest class B schools." Someone always has to play that "enrollment card."

Seriously, congrats. That's pretty awesome.

Is this a senior heavy bunch...or is there some good returning talent for many years? That is why the enrollment card gets played.

The Linton graduating class of 2004 had a very successful year. The 2003 football team won the 9-man state title. The 2004 boys' basketball team took 3rd in state (Lost to Trinity in OT in the semis which eventually won state). The 2004 girls' basketball team took 2nd in state (Lost to Larimore by one). The 2004 Wrestling team took 2nd in state behind Napoleon.

They are not heavy-loaded with senior's in sports its a mixture.
Next year they will do well but it would be difficult to match this years success.

Lisbon girls and boys track won the regionals again. They are a young talented bunch.
I believe the boys have won the regional 28 out of the last 31 years under coach Joe Howell.
This adds to a very successful sports year for the Broncos...
