Shalnley in the 80's won 11 State Championships in 13 years. I believe in the near future with the school growing, Shanley's program will start to rise like in the past. What are your thoughts on this?

Shanley is not growing because of recruitment. They don't recruit. It is growing because mor kids are coming around 6th grade.

Shanley should, and will be, in 2A within the next 3 years.

So which is it they are growing or they are going to drop down a division?

The trickey thing with Shanley is that about every 5 years or so they get an extremely competitive team that gives fans and boosters a false hope for the future. When times are good and hopes are high, the momentum created by those few successful seasons carries fans through the really low times. They will be 3A for the next 2 years, and will have to make the decision then. As a fan i hope they choose 2A because the successful years will be fun, and the down years won't turn into winless seasons like the last one.

Any school that opts up a division is only hurting their players. I don't intend this to be hurtful or argumentive. I have been around coaches that worked very hard to stay 11 man back in the day rather than drop down to 9 man. Not only did the individual teams suffer but the program as a whole suffered leading to less than 20 kids out for FB in what shouls have been a larger 9 man school but instead was trying to prepare for 11 man games with not enough athletes to scrimmage.

Hammerschmidt will not be the coach next year. Tiger Pride you are absolutely right, the numbers have went down drastically since 2003, the last successful season of Shanley football.

Along with Shanley being able to produce a successful team only every so often, they also have the problem that when they find good coaches because pubic schools can pay so much more Shanley never gets to keep them. cough *feeney* cough

Does Shanely have an opening for a soccer coach or a Fb coach? Their opening on Job Service website says FB but the description describes a soccer coach.

there are only ten years in the 80's so it is even more impressive to win 11 championships

They actually have both head coaching jobs open. A typo I guess on Job Service because they have the same soccer description for both jobs.

Kevin Roos the head soccor coach resigned as he will be coaching (assistant) the Concordia mens team next fall. He will continue to coach the girls team. The FB coaching job along with the AD position are also still open

A name who I heard that could be a good fit is Steve LaQua, would be a great choice if he applied.

from gobison.com

North Dakota State head football coach Craig Bohl announced two-year assistant coach Steve Laqua has resigned. Laqua, who was the running backs/tight ends coach the past two seasons for NDSU, plans to spend more time with his family.

Laqua returned to North Dakota State after serving as the offensive coordinator and running backs/tight ends coach at the University of Minnesota-Crookston in 2004. Prior to working at UMC, he was the outside linebackers/safeties coach at St. Olaf College.

The Cavalier, N.D. native played quarterback and strong safety at NDSU from 1997-2001. He was twice honorable mention on the North Central Conference all-academic team. 2000 CoSIDA Academic All-District third team pick. Laqua began his coaching career at NDSU as a graduate assistant in January, 2002

There are probably people with more experience. Is he teaching in the Fargo Catholic Schools System?

No he doesn't work in the FCSN but for some reason i believe people will be reluctant to take on the challenge of the pretty sorry Shanley football team. The real draw will probably be the AD position. I did hear that Steve does have a good chance of getting the job but that is just rumors

The two typically go hand-in-hand at Shanley.
