Maybe they'll get some early playing time? Other than Myles's coach now coaching there, I'm not too sure what could be attractive about that team. Unless he didn't have many other offers, which I doubt.

Good luck to them though.

Fargo Shanley quarterback Myles Montplaisir has verbally committed to play football at Minnesota State Moorhead.

Montplaisir played at Shanley for newly hired MSUM head coach Steve Laqua. Laqua was named Dragons head coach on Friday after serving as Shanley's head coach the past four seasons.

β€œHe is a person that I loved playing for and I wanted to continue playing for,” Montplaisir said.

That is correct. It looks like Wentz (NDSU), Okland(NDSU), McGovern(Missouri) and Hellman (UND) are the only DI scholarship football players this year. Does anyone know how those numbers compare to other years?

Anyone know if any past "recruited walk-ons" at NDSU went to have successful careers?

I'm sure there have been plenty. I know a couple years ago Reed Duschere (sp?) from Rugby was a "recruited walk-on" and I'm pretty sure he has eanred his way up to getting a scholarship this year.

Some past NDSU walk-ons:
Ken Clark (Bismarck) All-American at safety.
Jon Dahl (Velva) at OG.
Ryan Johnson, four-year starter at QB.
Dirk Kroeze (Lake of the Woods) All-American at DE.
Tom Shockman - team captain and a great SS.
Casey Bradley (not sure about this) - DB who is now defensive coordinator at Seattle.
I think one of the Kittelson's walked on - and they were all outstanding players.

Some current NSDU walk-ons:
Brock Gion, safety from Mott-Regent, played in 10 games as a true freshman walk-on
Reed Duchscher WR from Rugby has been mentioned.
Ty Beckius OL from Mahnomen made the traveling roster as a RS-Freshman and started as a soph against Kansas.
