Mondak Women's Basketball

Has anybody heard where all the top Mon-Dak women's players will be playing basketball next season...mainly looking at the sophomores. I already see Miller and Anderson going to Minot State and was wondering if anyone has heard of anymore.

Valley City State women's basketball coach Jill DeVries announced today the signing of Kristin Bearstail to a DAC letter-of-intent to play for the Vikings in 2010-11.

Bearstail led United Tribes Technical College to a 20-12 record in 2010 while averaging 22.6 points, 4.1 boards, 5.1 assists, and 3.4 steals per games for the Thunderbirds. She ranked first nationally in points scored (724) and three point baskets scored (124) in the NJCAA DII, and sixth nationally in scoring average (22.6) during the 2009-10 season. She was named first team All-Mon-Dak Conference and All-Region in 2010.

Bearstail played her freshman season at Williston State College where she helped lead the Tetons to a 27-5 record in 2008-09 averaging 14.3 points and three boards as a freshman. She made 104 3's that season shooting 36% from beyond the arc. She also dished out 109 assists for the Tetons in 32 games and snatched 66 steals.

'Kristin is a difference maker on both ends of the court. Obviously she can score. She is a great long range shooter, but she also had 161 assists this past season and 109 steals. Those are impressive numbers.' Commented Coach Jill DeVries. 'We are very excited to have her in our program and we believe that she will be one of the best players in our league.'

Bearstail shot 49.6% from the field and 32.4% from beyond the three point line her sophomore season.

'Kristin is the type of player that makes everyone on her team a better player. She fits the system that we run and we believe she fits into the culture of our program.'

Bearstail, a 5'7' guard from Bismarck, was a first team All-State selection at Shiloh Christian where she averaged 18.2 points per game her senior season and led her team to a state tournament berth in 2008. She intends to major in elementary education at VCSU.
