Bison Football 2009

Postby ndfan » Fri Aug 07, 2009 10:06 am

Thu, Sep 03 Iowa State at Ames, Iowa 7 p.m.
Sat, Sep 12 Sam Houston State at Huntsville, Texas 6 p.m.
Sat, Sep 19 Wagner College (Trees Bowl) Fargo, N.D. 6 p.m.
Sat, Sep 26 Southern Illinois * at Carbondale, Ill. 6 p.m.
Sat, Oct 03 Illinois State (Homecoming) * Fargo, N.D. 1 p.m.
Sat, Oct 10 Northern Iowa * Fargo, N.D. 3:07 p.m.
Sat, Oct 17 South Dakota State * at Brookings, S.D. 6 p.m.
Sat, Oct 24 Missouri State (Harvest Bowl) * Fargo, N.D. 6 p.m.
Sat, Oct 31 Western Illinois * at Macomb, Ill. 1:05 p.m.
Sat, Nov 14 Indiana State * at Terre Haute, Ind. 11:05 a.m.
Sat, Nov 21 Youngstown State * Fargo, N.D. 1 p.m.

So how does everyone see the Bison schedule playing out this year?

Lose to Iowa State (Think it will be a close game)
Win at Sam Houston (no more bomar)
Win against Wagner (never heard of them)
Lose at Southern Illinois (They will fight it out with Northern Iowa for top spot)
Win against Illinois State (Homecoming, huge crowd, very beatable team)
Lose to Northern Iowa (Still the team to beat in the conference)
Lose at South Dakota State (They've had there number the last couple years and its on the road)
Win against Missouri State (Bison at home against team they should beat)
Lose at Western Illinois (I think health and depth could be factor here on the road)
Win at Indiana State (Might see little improvement from Indiana st. but they still aren't at same level)
Lose against Youngstown State (Can bison defense stop the run?)

I got them at 5-6 I think the Western Illinois and Youngstown state games could be toss ups depending on health and how well which ever quarterback is playing at the time. Just my thoughts on the season, love to see others and there thoughts.

I hope you are wrong... I wouldn't be terribly surprised by a 6-5 season but 5-6 would be pretty disappointing. There are a whole lot of questions marks.

Phil Steele has them ranked 16th in the nation and 3rd in the conference. SIU is 3rd and Northern Iowa is 6th.

Some interesting news out of fall camp. NDSU signed three North Dakota kids last year: Brandon Jemison from South, Ryan Drevlow from Gwinner, and Andrew Grothmann from Hillsboro. It turns out that all three are good enough to play as true freshmen... whether or not that happens, it's still pretty amazing that it is even a possibility.

WoW can anybody explain to me what has happened to the Bison football program this year?? I thought they would lose a few games to the better teams in the league but never thought they would lose at home to Illinois State.

As of right now i think they will lose the next two games to Northern Iowa and South Dakota State which will put them at 1-6. Then I think they split the next four games beating Missouri State and Indiana State and losing to Western Illinois and Youngstown State. So 3-8 is the worst i think they do and 4-7 is the best i think they can do record wise this year.

I didn't think the Bison could get much worse from last year...but I was wrong.

So with Mohler now being the starting QB does anybody think the offense will be any better?

As of right now I don't think the offense will be any better and I don't think it will be any worse. But they do need to find out if he is the future or if they need to look else where for next year.

I think out of the three phases of football offense, defense, and special teams they have more issues on the defense and special teams that are costing them games more then the offense is right now.

I think that next years line backing core for the Bison will be very good. I believe Preston Evans is only a Sophomore and he is very good and Brandon Jemison is playing very good for a true freshman.

Who else will they have though? Evans is a stud no doubt about that and Jemison needs another year or two to bulk up and he will be a excellent one also. You got Matt Anderson who will be coming off neck surgery so you have no idea what kinda shape he will be in the start of the season. After that who do they got? Depth wise the linebacker position looks weak to me after those three especially experience wise.

The Kittelson from Velva should make for a good one next year.

I think they have a shot at winning the next two games against Western Illinois and Indiana State. So I am going to say 3-8

Tough to say Western Illinois beat NDSU last year at the dome so that game could go either way, Indiana State has improved this season getting a win over the team that the bison play this weekend, but this should still be a easy bison victory. They lose to youngstown to end the season.

Well we aren't used to seeing 14-7 wins from NDSU, but I guess we have to take it.

Hmmm..............this a good forum, not too many arguements. No reason to lock it. I guess that means we should lock it if the Sioux Football one is an example.

Bison suffer a tough loss in the last 22 seconds to end the season at 3-8. Is there reasoning to be concerned yet? The only glimmer of light i saw from this season was the phenomenal talent of Pat Paschall
University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, and thats the way its gonna stay
