That kid can run, he'll give Eric Stroh(BHS) a run for his money in the 800, but Stroh will be too strong for him.  But I think 1600 is Larson best event in track and he'll contend for 1st at state.

larson set the state a indoor record in the mile (1600), finishing in the neighborhood of seven seconds ahead of eric stroh and about eight ahead of tom wagner

in the 800 stroh ran 1:59.69...i'm not a big time guy in track, so i can't really tell you if that is good or not, just that he took first, so it certainly wasn't bad

Stroh's time in the 800m is good for indoors, but outdoors he'll run around a 1:56 or lower.

The thing to keep in mind is what a huge advantage it is at state for 800 meter runners who DON'T also run the 3200. That's why Larson won't be much of a threat to win the 800. There are a few exceptions over the years in class A (Heen, Ihmels), but oftentimes even if a guy had the best 800 time coming in, the 3200 just takes too much out of him to compete with runners who are relatively fresh. I've seen it time and again over the years.
