So we are getting close to the All Star break. What is everyones assessment of the season thus far? Aside from star players under-performing, Mauer, Cuddyer, Hudson(injured), Hardy(injured), I feel our biggest issue has been our starting rotation.

Defense and Bullpen have been solid. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Cliff Lee or Cliff Lee-like trade.

I think they'll be crossed for awhile then. When is the last time the Twins made a midseason(or even offseason) deal to GET a big name player. They'll get rid of them, but rarely do they go for them. It's just not the Twins.

Very true, and Gardy has been quoted as saying trading for Lee goes against Twins philosophy. But the Twins do occasionally make moves for players mid season. (Orlando Cabrera, Carl Pavano) None as big as Lee I'll admit.

We have seen the Twins do a lot of things we never thought they'd do this off-season and season. Even if we don't go after Lee, I still feel we need an upgrade in that rotation.

Its hard to say Mauer is underperforming. For him it is, but considering he is a catcher that is still batting over .300 is still pretty dang good. Yeah his 4 homeruns are low, but he never really has had a lot of pop besides his 28 last year.

The Twins need to go get Lee and bring up Slama and/or Waldrop. They need an ace in the worst way and they have to get more quality arms in their bullpen. Waldrop's ERA is .98 right now. He's better than anyone they have in a setup role, including Guerrier, who has a dead arm at the moment.

They need to do this sooner than later.

I've also heard that they may be looking at getting Tejada or Wiggington to play 3rd base.

Although Cuddy is better in Right than at third, I think that makes their lineup the most potent. That way they can still bat both Kubel and Thome.

ESPN made some Ultimate Team Rankings and one of the factors was "stadium experience" not only was Target Field the #1 baseball stadium for "stadium experience," but when compared to NFL, NBA, and NHL stadiums it was still #1. Pretty impressive imo.

It doesn't surprise me...Target Field is SO RIDICULOUSLY SWEET!! If you haven't been there...you should go soon.

I've have been there, twice, and maybe my expectations were too high, but it didn't blow me away. I need to go to another stadium so I can compare it to something. I don't think you can compare the metrodome to Target Field.

I can tell you that the very top row of the whole stadium is VERY windy! Went there with my baseball team, I decided to move to a lower seat that wasn't taken.

But this stadium didn't blow me away either. I've been to a couple and it doesn't seem too special to me.

Well this is the offense and good pitching that we need down the stretch! They have 47 runs on 72 hits over the past 4 games...without Justin Morneau! They have outscored their opponents 47-9...maybe the pitching is coming around now too.

Valencia, Mauer, and Young all played really well in the series with the Royals. Young is an absolute freak right now.

I agree that them 3 are playing very well right now, esspecial Young (WOW), but 72 hits didnt come from just them 3...team is clicking right now

If only Delmon could learn how to play left field. He'd be great then, but instead he looks like an uncoordinated goon out there.

What I remember was him giving up an inside the park home run at Kansas City because he tried to slide or something and tripped and ran into the wall then fumbled around with the ball. Oh, and it was Teahen running! Definitely not a burner.

Haha I think last year, Delmon was at that level. Now, he's a little better but still a liability.

After beating up on all the cellar dwellers, here comes the real test with Tampa, Chicago, Oakland and Texas all in August (and Angels to a lesser extent). I personally think we will ride this momentum through August and come September have a 2 game lead on the ChiSox.

There that is my prediction. And PS the mustache aka Pavano aka Luigi aka Pavstach is awesome. Mustaches in general are AWESOME. The entire team needs to grow mustaches and if you don't think so just ask Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, Jim "catfish" Hunter and the 72 As and their back to back to back World Series Championships.
