ok i mean if he would retire right now, where would he stand among the greatest of ALL TIME!!! personally i think right now, he would be in the top 15 or 10, but at the end of his career, which isnt too soon, top 5

That was a list of people who did good in their era.

However, among best players of all-time, straight up, Kobe is no doubt in the top ten

I know what you meant like that? Are you saying against how he does against his competition compared to how others do against their competition, or are you saying how he would do if all players from all eras were consolidated into one league.

Just for clarification, do you mean best in his time, as balla suggests. Or best players, as I suggest.

Kobe is arguably the best player in this era. Garnett, Duncan, and LeBron can all compare favorably in my opinion. Agree or disagree? Why?

Come on, don't let me win that easily. That defeats the purpose of this argument.

Although Kobe is my third favorite out of these four, he is the best.

One example, look what happened when he decided to join team USA.

You can also give credit to Coach K, the 3 year commitment, and all of the other players on the team. It wasn't the Kobe Bryant show, however, he did take over in the gold medal game, as did LeBron.

I don't know if this belongs here or the USA basketball thread. But

Do you think the Dream team would kill the Redeem Team, as many people suggest?

I most like the point that Michael Jordan would simply raise the level of his play like only he can.

Also, the level of competition in international basketball has grown unfathomably over the past decade or so.

Just to put it in here, I think the Dream Team would win, but a much closer margin than others say.

I read both. I personally think the Dream Team would have walked through it even more. They were more cohesive and more fundamentally sound defensively.

Yes, I agree with you. I think the game would come down to Jordan showing why he is the greatest finisher to play the game.

The article gave chemistry to the Redeem Team.

Also, don't forget about Kobe as a defender and Chris Paul.

Have not forgotten. I just don't think Kobe could stop Jordan. If Paul is to guard Magic, he won't be able to stop him in the post anyway. The other way around, Jordan could hold Kobe, and the Dream Team's help defense is vastly superior to the Redeem Team's. Add to that the fact that the Redeem team only had 3 players shoot well from 3 in Wade, Redd, and Bryant, and I have to give the edge to the Dream Team.

Who would guard Wade then. And Lebron

Magic couldn't contain hardly anyone of those and Bird couldn't keep up
