Usain Bolt sets world record in 100m 9.69!

Amazing! If you didn't see it Bolt ran the last 10m-20m with his hands below his waist in celebration. I would have loved to have seen how fast he could run if he actually ran through the finish line.

He could run 9.5 if he tried - I don't think he realizes that he won't be 21 forever. I really wished he would have went all out just to see how fast he could be. He could set a record that would stand for a long time I believe if he gave it his absolute best.

His previous best was ran on a track in NYC, I believe, and that is supposed to be a really fast track. I have heard this track is even faster. The combination of weather conditions, being amped on the big stage, track conditions may never be as good as they were for that final. I like you and many others wish he would have went all out through the line.

Well, I wasn't exactly right - but I was really close. 9.58 today at World Championships against Tyson Gay's third best ever time of 9.71 next to Bolt's best two times. Great race. Makes Track fun to watch again for the first time since the late 80's. You know what's different about track more than any other sport is if someone says MJ was the best BB player ever - that can be argued, if someone says Babe Ruth was best baseball player ever - that can be argued, but Usain Bolt IS the fastest man that has ever lived on this planet - no arguement can be had.

it can be argued that anyone could beat him on a given day. Gay ran the 3rd fastest time in history and .12 seconds behind him with a groin injury...meaning he wasn't 100% Maybe bolt has an injury too, no one knows. but if Gay can run 9.71 with a groin injury, I want to see him run healthy...

It is possible the groin injury had no effect on his race. He ran a PR by 0.06 seconds, I doubt he's much, if any, faster 100% healthy.

i can agree with that...but he said no arguement can be made and i just said that people could speculate and ask "what if". Gay didn't have a ful training session for weeks leading up to the race. i have a hard time believing that guys at that level dont train at half speed unless something is wrong.

Fastest man to ever have lived. I understand your point baseball - but this guy is the fastest man ever. I don't see had there could be a valid arguement - unless of course, he's taking PED's. That would be sad.

under 3.0 seconds for his 40yd time if he was clocked at mid race speed
3.8 sec 40yd time if he was clocked out of the blocks

OVER 30 MPH. AT MID-RACE
