Who's gonna be the first one out this year.  Sounds like the courses in the west are opening up already.  Fargo is too wet yet.

Favorite ND courses:
  1. Bully Pulpit  (spectacular views, casual attitudes of staff and players)
  2. The Links of North Dakota  (never seems busy, friendly staff, great views)
  3. Hawktree  (most pristine course I've ever played on, slower play)
  4. Heart River  (nice course for a hacker like me)
  5. Riverwood  (trees keep down the wind)
  6. Souris Valley  (decent layout, fun course)
  7. Rose Creek (usually in good shape)
  8. Edgewood  (I'd rate it higher, but usually has some water damage)
  9. Kings Walk (nice layout, over priced, not much for scenery)
Courses I haven't played yet:  Dakota Winds, Minot CC, Fargo CC, Oxbow

nice 9 holes courses I've played:
  • Larimore
  • Mayville
  • Kenmare
  • Washburn
  • Park River

Here is my top 10 favorite golf courses in the region(Eastern ND, Western MN)

1. Oxbow-Always in great shape and I just love how this coures is layed out.

2. Thumper Pond- With all the pine trees it offers quite a challange, a must play for any golfer.

3. Wildflower- Another great course that is long and has some fantastic holes.

4. Meadows- always in great shape and my favorite course to golf at but it is usually packed.

5. Edgewood- Nice layout and it is a great course as long as the water stays away.

6. Fargo CC- Nice course but nothing too amazing, the greens are probably the toughest in the FM area though. It is definately a challange.

7. DL CC- Great course but usually packed and it's also a bit overpriced.

8. Rose Creek- With the improvements on some holes the course has gotten better but it still needs a few more years to mature.

9. Village Green- Never too busy, I always am able to get on whenever I get the urge to golf. The layout could still use a little work but it is getting much better with the improvements that have been made. I love the front 9 and the 18th hole.

10. Maple River- The back 9 needs some time to mature but the course is rarely busy and I always have a good time playing out on there.

Honerable mention- Hawley CC

Haven't golfed but want to- Moorhead CC, Perham, Hawktree, Links of ND, Bully Pulpit, and Kings Walk.

If I would have included close-by MN courses, I would have put Wildflower at #3.  Just a great value, you can't beat their early/late season and twilight discounts, plus I've never ran into any stuffed shirts there.  Hawley probably would be right after Edgewood.  As for 9-hole courses, Fertile and Red Lake Falls are definite must plays.

I just drove by Edgewood earlier today and it's completely under water.  :(
