Gambling in sports

What does everyone think of this ever growing controversy and its larger implication of gambling in sports?

 I'm not following the PHX Coyotes story too closely, but I do think gambling is a lot bigger than what most people think.  I just saw the movie, Two for the Money and that is a lot of what goes on I think(good movie).  I was in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago and couldn't believe the sports betting area of some of the casino's.  I want to go stay at the MGM Grand next time so I can have free beer and watch all the games in a sports fans paradise, even though I've never bet more than $10 on a game in my life.

This has been going on for decades, it's just now getting more high-tech.  Instead of calling your bookie from a clubhouse, you can place all the bets on your cell phone internet connection.  Gambling houses are going to make everything so easy it's ridiculous.   In the old day's we had Alex Karras and Paul Hornung, and the Black Sox scandel, so this is really nothing new.  I'm not positive on those references however.

I was watching outside the lines and it says baseball, hockey, and basketball pro athletes can bet on other games. The NFL disallows there players from gambling on any sport. What sport handles it the best baseball hockey basketball or football? Is this another thing congress will have to step into just like the steroids issue?

I don't know which one handles it best. In my mind, as long as a player(or anyone, because players are no different than us) is gambling legally and not on their own sport, I see no problem with it.
