I get why Williston can’t move down; my reasoning is just that being 20-95 since 2009 (.174 win %) is not being competitive. Getting rid of conference games would benefit all…Williston could schedule winnable games vs 11A schools (TMCHS, Dickinson, Watford, Devils Lake, Minot North when they move into Varsity play) and 11AA teams wouldn’t HAVE to play them.

This is what Minnesota does and I wish they would do it if the three class proposal, for basketball, passes.

I completely agree although I dont think ANY fargo A schools WANT to drive to williston is the problem. I would be A OK if they just got rid of the conference idea. I know the coaches aren't making the schedules though its an AD thing...

Why does Fargo North, South, Red River and Central get to play in the A division but Williston is stuck in AA??
Are they that much bigger than the Fargo/GF schools?

This was five posts before yours.

NDPREP wrote:Williston cannot opt down because they are the 4th largest school in the state by adjusted enrollment, you can only opt down IF

Teams may request to opt down to the next lower division if they meet both items a. and b., beginning with the 2017 season below:
-The team’s Football Enrollment must be within 25% of the median between divisions.
-The team may not have qualified for the playoffs more than once at the higher division in the previous four seasons.
-Qualifying for the playoffs in the current season may affect a team’s ability to opt-down in the next season.

Props to Mandan and Fargo Shanley for playing in 11AA, challenging themselves and not taking the easy way out. This system benefits North, South, Central and Red River have so blatantly, it's ridiculous.

Technically Mandan has had too much success to bump down, Legacy has the option too go down but they choose to stay up, good on them.
