Old Teams

There's always a lot of talk about when teams cooped in basketball and the history of schools teams before cooping, but it's hard to find that info for old football teams. When did some schools who used to be on their own for football start cooping or drop the sport altogether? I'm guessing there were quite a few small schools that quit fielding a team in the 70s and 80s. In some of these towns you drive through, you can still see where the old football field was located. I'm curious about the teams below....just a few that come to mind from my area

Edmore
Starkweather
Michigan
Rocklake
Border Central
Bisbee-Egeland

From the old SCC.
Hazelton quit in 1974. Co-op with Linton in 1980. Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock consolidated in 1991 and it has been LHMB since.
Gackle last team in 1975. Gackle-Streeter co-o.o with Napoleon since 2014.
Kulm and Edgeley co-op in early 1990s. Ellendale joined co-op someone in last 7 years.
Zeeland co-op with Ashley-Wishek in late 1980s, until co-op with Strasburg since 1994. Ashley-Wishek became South Border in 2007.
Steele-Dawson became Kidder County in 2008.
Emmons Central closed in 1985 and Those kids played for either Strasburg or Linton.

Ellendale joined Edgeley-Kulm in 2013 and moved up from 9-Man to Class A 11-man

Thank you! that's the exact information I was looking for. Just by doing a quick scan of the site it looks like HS FB started in its current form in 1975? Lots of schools joined with other teams in the mid 80s as I suspected.

I know GS kids that played with Napoleon as early as 1999.

Ashley never co-oped with WIshek for football until after 1990. Before that Wishek had a co-op with Lehr and Zeeland. Zeeland never co-oped with Ashley for football, but they did for VB and girls/boys BB before joining with Strasburg for those sports as well as FB. In 1990 Ashley had 11 players and went to the playoffs losing to Mott in the 1st round. Ashley had 2 outstanding running backs in Dan Rohrbach (played at VCSU) and Cory Haas who were also outstanding on defense. (linebackers) Ashley lost to Napoleon that year and to Mott.

Sportsrube, yes, my mistake about Ashley-Wishek co-op.
Flip, I don't think the NGS co-op was recognized until later on, even though G-S students were allowed to participate in football and wrestling for Napoleon. Braddock students could play for Napoleon in sports they didn't have but Braddock was never in the team name. Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock consolidated in 1991, and joined Linton for a co-op in football and wrestling.

This is possible, I don't remember.

Not exactly sure when the NGS co-op started but they were together when they went to back to back finals in 2006 and 2007

Birthday, the earliest I could find the Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter co-op for football was the 2004-05 season. I know there were Gackle-Streeter players participating for Napoleon before that, but the team was called Napoleon through the 2003 football season.
I believe the Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter co-op for volleyball and basketball was first recognized before the 2013-14 season, a year after the Central Prairie (Gackle-Streeter/Medina-Cleveland) co-op was dissolved, and Medina co-oped with Pingree-Buchanan. Don’t know the status of Cleveland and Kensal (which was part of the former P-B-K co-op) after that.
