The second state qualifier, between Williston and Dickinson, is just underway. Comments will follow as things happen.

Dickinson draws first blood at the 14:16 mark of the 1st period. Dickinson up 1-0 on Williston. (Goal was scored by Blake Reis.)

Big save by Joel Otto. 13 seconds left in the 1st period.

1st period ends with Dickinson up 1-0 on Williston. Shots are 8-7 in favor of Dickinson. Dickinson will have 1:24 left on a power play to begin the 2nd period. (Game is beginning to get a bit chippy.)

2nd is underway, still 1-0 Dickinson with 13:21 to play in regulation. Williston is starting to put some pressure on.

Sheldon Kihle scores to tie the game at 1. Goal is scored at the 9:19 mark of the 2nd period. Just 11 seconds later, Jake Axtman scores to make it 2 - 1 Coyotes. Dickinson takes the timeout.

Dickinson scores a power play goal (Kevin Burke) to tie things at 2 at the 12:16 mark of the 2nd period.

Sorry to those following my posts, I have now corrected myself (and my posts). This was only the 2nd period. I am following two games, one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd. Got them confused. Williston is ahead of Dickinson 3-2 after 2 periods of play. Dickinson holds an 18-15 edge in shots.

Otto begins the 3rd period with two huge saves on Axtman. (And, yes, it really IS the 3rd period this time! )

Cole Frenzel ties the game at 3 at the 2:52 mark of the 3rd period.

Jordan Nelson scores a power play goal to regain the lead for Williston. Goal comes at the 4:52 mark. Score is now 4-3.

Jake Axtman scores for Williston to make it 5-3 Williston. Axtman has had a hand in every point that Williston has scored in the tournament. He now has 12 points in 3 games. WOW!

Too many men call against Dickinson after they had pulled their goalie. It is now 4 on 4 hockey.

Coyotes score an empty-netter to seal the victory. (Gardner) It is a 6-3 win. Coyotes will be the 3rd seed from the West heading into the state tournament.

Bismarck High and Minot underway. 11:18 left to play in the 1st.

Minot draws first blood on a power play goal. Kyle Stephens from Jadin Martin and Bryce Schmitt. Minot 1-0 at 6:08 mark.

End of 1st, Minot hangs on to the 1-0 lead over Bismarck. Medler coming up with some big saves, including one with about 10 seconds left in the period. Shots were 12-8 in favor of BHS.

10:52 left in the 2nd period. Still 1-0 Minot. Bismarck keeping Minot pinned in their own end and getting lots of shots. So far, Medler is up to the challenge.
