Bismarck over North, Grafton over Mandan, RR over Century, South over Williston

Bismarck over Grafton, RR over South

RR over Bismarck

Williston is also playing very well and might have a chance against South if they stay out of the box. South is a little weaker than they have been the last few years.

Red River is just too good. I can't see anyone even coming close.
On another note, it is a shame that the third and fifth place games can't even be held at the rink that everyone wants to be at. Something has to be done about this in the future.

Good luck to all teams

Bismarck 4 FN 2
GPR 6 mandan 0
GFRR 5 century 1
South 5 williston 3

Here is my solution to the tournament. Give fargo the EDC tournamnet every year and rotate the girls tournament between fargo and a place in the west. Keep the boys state hockey tourney where it belongs in my opinion.

You've got to be kidding me with the Bismark over Grafton prediction. When is the last time a west team has even made it past the quarter finals little lone beat one of the 2 best teams in the state. RR even had trouble containing Grafton's Demers, Mohagen, and Gaustad line. It might be a close game but Bismark will not win. The only reason they have a good record is because they only play teams from the west. Grafton already beat them once this season too.

Sorry Spoilers 07, I didn't think that the athletes playing today were effected by what happened in the past. Sorry I blew up. I suppose then in the NHL the Edmonton Oilers will win the cup every year because THEY USED TO WIN IT EVERY YEAR. What was I thinking????????

By the way, I didn't pick them over South. I picked them over Fargo North and then Grafton. ( The team by the way that had to score twice at home in the last minute to beat MInot.

That is true GPR did have to score twice in the last minute to beat Minot! They also out shot them by 40. And the fact is they did come back in the last minute! They just had been playing lazy. Bismark GPR this game will be fun to watch. Will be back and forth but I have to say if GPR uses its depth (which they havent!) they will win.

Bismarck over Grafton! That's funny.

Minot's goalie had 51 saves. Grafton's back up had 6.

BTW, Grafton's back up goalie was also in net when they beat Bismarck.

BHS over North 4-1. north will not challenge a good bismarck squad.
G-PR over Mandan 8-1. Mandan finds out what a good team is all about.
Red River over Century 6-0. bad draw for century RR way to good.
South over Willy 4-3. willy gives them a run but not deep enough team to win.

G-PR over BHS 3-2. should be good game but grafton is the better team. sorry folks east region champ again.
Red River over South 5-2. like i said before RR way to good for south .

3rd place BHS over South 4-2. BHS handles South and proves they are a decent team
title game G-PR over RR 3-1. G-PR gets empty netter. I think it is their year.

I agree with you on every game, but the championship. I'm going with a 4-2 RR win over Grafton.

I'll go one final at a time.

I don't expect any upsets contrary to my picks, but if FNH can do whatever they did to DL (was at the game, and I'm still myphed) I think they COULD upset BHS in the first round.

That would be awesome in FNH could do it but I was listening to the Dan Hammer show today and some caller called in and said the state tournament use to be weigh different and I kinda liked how it used to be.

He said auto bids were 1st and 2nd place form the east and 1st from the west.
Then the other 5 positions were play in games like the 6th from the east would go to 2nd from the west and 5th from the east would go to 3rd from the west and 4rth from the east would play 4th from the west and so on.

So we have the 8 best teams in the state tourney.

That actually seems like a decent idea. Have regular season games as WDA/EDC split up, and form a qualifying round for the state tourney (like EDC/WDA) for the entire state, held in rotation (Fargo, Bismark, etc) at places that can handle the capacity. It wouldn't be biased towards either side of the state that way either.

Yeh he said this was when the state only had like 13 teams and switched in 1992 or 3 i believe and since then the east has gone like 54-2 or some crazy stat like that. Had to switch cuz of 5 more teams so it had to give everyone a chance.

There are only 18 teams in ND, and it really shouldn't be that hard to set up some brackets that would be fair to include the best talent from ND in the state tourney.

Grafton is a tournament team... the only way Bismarck will be able to keep it close is if Grafton underestimates them. I wouldn't blame them either because the caliber of Western hockey doesn't compare to the East. Game prediction GPR 5 BHS 1, the only reason for the one goal by Bismarck is Grafton's inexperienced goalteneder.

who are the 5 other teams all i can think of is mandan, hazen and dickinson. the region tourney didn't start untill the 95 season. that first year it was win day one and you were in the state tourney.
before that the auto bids were the edc regular season winner and the wda winner. i don't think the top 2 from the east got auto bids but i could be wrong.

Grafton has one line which isn't going to be able to get it done the way RR has been playing. I think that the GPR/Bismark game will be a good one but I just don't see GPR loosing. I am goong to take RR over GPR in the ship.

Century and Mandan will both give up alot of goals... I could actually see them both being double digit games.

you don't see a team giving up 9 goals? if you have seen both mandan and grafton play i don't think you would make that statement. kline is good but against a high powered offense ( which mandan has not faced all year) he is going to get lit up.

Go back and look at some of the scores between east and west teams during state tournament games. I've watched games where RR, GPR, and Central are kicking the heck out of some of the western teams; so bad that there is running time throughout the 3rd period. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised to see GPR score 9 goals against Mandan. heck, GPR just scored 9 against Central about two weeks ago and we all know Central would beat Mandan.
