GFRR barely beats DL.
2-1
Dl has a decent team this year. I think they might beat south.

Bismarck Tribune said it was 4-3

looks like shanley doubled them in shots

Goalie saves: Mandan Tucker Beechie 7-16-19-42.
Shanley Chris Colwell 10-6-5-21.

Shanley started the same goaltender that gave up 7 goals on 20 shots against wahpeton last year. Shanley didn't look like they played too bad and their first line didn't play much because Hvidston had three early penalties and Dietzler had a misconduct in the 2nd....Shanley really just isn't as bad as some may think, i mean they did give Grafton a heck of a run.

Now I'm not jumping on the whole Shanley is great bandwagon, but does anyone wonder if the head coaching change was in fact good for the program as a whole? There were rumors that the old coach was not getting a lot out of his players, etc... I still believe they are obviously not in the same breath at the contenders in the state, but they played Grafton somewhat close and beat Mandan, not saying Mandan is a Red River, just saying maybe a coaching change was for the better.

guys-- my source syas that Mandan didn't play their 1st and 2nd line much.
that they only skated a few shifts.
Mandan played the back-up goalie
played a ton of JV guys(got them valuable experience)

Kline(G), Martin, Haugen, Rioplle, Bair(D)-- didn't hardly play.
Some sophs got their first varsity time.'

so I think Shanley got the win, but Mandan was playing to learn some things.
Mandan is playing BHS this thurs.... Maybe that is why they played limited time with top players...
?????
the game didn't mean much in standings or anything for either team.
So it was a good game for all, the Mandan coach git to see some guys play that don't get to play much varsity(or ever) and Shanley got the win(needed now they have new coaches...)
confidence for both I wouldm say.
Can't wait to see the BHS Mandan game....

And South gets to travel to Moorhead?? thoughts on that one anyone--
Heard they chanaged lines at South??

That may be true about playing players, etc... I still think you play the game to win and get some momentum going into your big game against BHS, not throw the game away to be rested for a game 2 days away. Getting experience is also good though, let's just hope it does not hurt them.

Added scores from Tuesday. RR only beat DL 2-1? RR play soft or DL/Groves played well?
The big talk tomorrow will of course be FS vs Moorhead, we'll see if South turned around from their last game and will gives Moorhead a run for their money. Should be a great, and exciting packed game as usual.
BHS/Mandan tomorrow also for those in the west.

Gave Grafton a heck of a run? It was 6-3. Shanley goalie had 49 saves and G-PR played 2nd goalie, and he only made 16 saves.
They have lost to Central(6-0) Dickinson(8-4) DL(6-3) RR(11-0)
Beat Hazen-Beulah(5-2) Wahp-Breck(4-2) and Mandan(4-3)
Not that impressive!

I think what the poster was getting at was that the score was just that 6-3. Shots are shots, and goals are goals. The 6-3 score is much closer than the 11-0 working Red River gave them. You make a good point though, Central was not considered coming into the season as a team to watch out for, yet they beat Shanley 6-0 and Grafton beat them 6-3, maybe neither team is in the same class at the 11-0 score.?.?

Why did RR barely beat DL 2-1 if they are in another "class"?

Ok first off, i've noticed every time Shanley wins a game, someone makes and excuse that the other team didn't try or their first line didn't play. Shanley has finally been playing up more towards their potential with the coaching change. But I'm really getting annoyed when people make excuses when a team like that wins. They deserve some wins and they for the first time might have the potential to pull some upsets. Central beat South...thats an upset...but noone makes excuses on why central won. Thats because a win is a win i saw that game and Central deserved that win but you can say a team like Shanley beats Mandan and the excuses just start flying?!?!?!?! That's just shady.

I plan on going to the Mandan vs BHS game this evening.
I havent had a chance to watch Mandan yet this season, but i did see BHS blow out north.
Now, I know north has a young team and and is not as good as years past, but i was impressed with the way BHS dominated that game. And it looks like they have beaten every team that Mandan has played by at least 4 goals. I have heard many good things about Mandan's Play this year and I think tonight we are going to find out just how good this team is this by playing a team who has dominated their competition in the west thus far. I think it comes down to Goaltending for Mandan, and putting the puck away when they get scoring chances. Also wouldnt hurt to stay out of the box.

Hopefully it turns out to be a good game.
I would like to see Mandan win.
But I think BHS takes it something like 5-2

BHS 5 Mandan 4

Was a pretty good game to watch although the score was closer than it should have been. BHS dominated the better part of the game and Kline stood on his head and kept mandan in it. One goal Bismarck scored there was definately a man in the crease before the puck was. I dont know what the exact shots were but I would say Kline probably had around 40 saves. I give mandan some credit for hanging in there and scoring on thier opportunities. They have some good skaters. Overall BHS was just faster and stronger with the puck.
