Bismarck played in the 3rd place game against Red River like 3-4 years ago...That must've been in 2003 or 2004...

I think next year BHS has a shot there losing no one really that was to important, all of the key guys are sophmore and juniors. There only let back will be there goalie after losing 2 seniors this year.

I think BHS will have a nice run the next few years myself.  The rest of the spots are up for grabs.

On a scale of 1-10

Bottineau-3 No real stnad out players next year maybe Handeland

Williston-7 Lots of returning starters and talent---Maybe lack of a goalie-

Jamestown-4 Again no threats coming up

Minot-6 Won't be bad at all got Schmitt again got some other tough players

minot will be a downfall for awhile at least might do allright this year but not so much in years to come, williston shouldnt be too bad in up coming years, bottineau - possibly doing better than other years thier youth program is getting better, - and jamestown - next year i dont expect much but years after that could be better

Dickinson in Kovacs if he stays around, bottineau's wont be bad either, plus isn't knudtson from century a junior this year?

i guess skogen from minot is in that category too, allthough well find out he wont have the support he had this year and yeah i think knutson is a junior

well hes not going to get much better playing in dickinson, if he can he should leave and try to get on a nahl team, or a AAA team somthing in those lines. I don't think he is good enough to be in the ushl.

they are all close in skill, I have seen each one of these goalies play at one time or another. I have not seen all of them play this season but at some point in their high school careers.

This is just my thoughts on the goaltenders returning next season.
NOTE: they are in no particular order and my "goalie knowledge" is limited.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Knutson CHS- good size, decent mechanics ( hybrid ).... wound tight, rollercoaster mindset, fights puck

Klein MHS- relaxed, composed goalie with a big frame (butterfly)...attitude?, inconsistent

Kovacs DIC- towering profile, good hands, net consumption, can steal a game (butterfly)....average fundamentals

Groves DL- athetic, good positioning most of the time, game stealing potential (scrambler)....questionable save selection,

Skogen MIN- strong glove side, eats rebounds( tradional tendencies).....inconsistent, and appears to be uneducated with basic fundamentals

Arnason RR- big frame, nice V drops that take up lower 1/2 net space, plays percentages, sqaure to puck (butterfly)....very one dimensional, untested,

Oster HB- good postioning, keeps team within striking distance (look up Gump Worsley),... questionable save selection, sloppy mechanics, agility?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just for fun I'll do the same for this years graduating senior class:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deichert FS-good size, solid mechanics/ fundamentals, exceptional positioning, nice crease movement, consistent, rare "softies"  soft goals with good rebound control/ direction ( tradional)..... to many average performances

Ness GFC- good range of motion, solid puck prescence , decent  fundamentals, good net awareness( tradional)....shakey at times,

Boldt WIL- square to shooter, simple game plan , almost stole a big one( stand up/ traditional hybrid).....lack of mobility and mechanics

Sand GPR- nice positioning, basic mechanics (tradional/butterfly hyrbrid).... plays "small", hesitant

Hillman BIS- good instincts, exceptional fundamentals/mechanics, athletic, aggressive, agile, (hybrid ).....rebounds, small frame

Haugenoe WIL- big frame, nice mitts, not cool pucks up (butterfly).... jumpy, sloppy at times
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~opinions, input, and any other interesting information welcomed~~

**
I would suggest this website  http://mitchkorn.com/pdf/Goaltending%20Styles.pdf or something similar for a reference on the basics for those who have limited " goalie knowledge"**

knutson might have the biggest 5-hole in the state.
