I have no prediction on the west, but I would predict the following from the east:

1. GF Red River. This is a 3 team race with Fargo South and Grafton, but I give the edge to RR. They have a question mark in goal, but the defense will be very good with Galbreath and LaDoucer. They have enough scoring with Melland and Vigen, and always come up with players who surprise and produce. No one predicted that Mihulka, Spies and Melland would score as much as they did last year. Very well coached.

2. Fargo South. They also have a very tough and very big defense led by Wurden and Metz and have the top goalie with Sean Deichert. A lot of depth, but not a lot of proven scorers beyond Ian Powers. Also well coached.

3. Grafton. Their top line of Miller-Anderson-Hills should be the top in the state. They also have a very good sophomore class that just won the bantam A state last year. Defense should be stronger than last year even with Andy Peterson graduating. Goaltending is a huge concern. If they can get above average goaltending, they could win it all.

4. Devils Lake. They have a lot of talent returning, but have not yet played in the east. They are projected to be good, but there are some question marks. Could be challenged by Central and North.

5. Central. They have Alex Simonson and a strong goaltender. Central always gets stronger as the year goes on. Never count them out.

6. North. They have Tyler Klein, a Mr. Hockey candidate, but he may need some help. North struggled with depth last year, and lost 2 of its 3 best players. The seniors need to step up.

7. West Fargo. Tyler Swanson is very good, but not a lot of stars and they lost a lot of seniors. Usually a very hard-working team. They could surprise again.

8. Fargo Shanley. Will likely struggle this year. Not a lot of top end talent and not much depth.

9. Wahpeton. Will finish in last again.

East:

1. South; every aspect of their game is covered. Defence is strong, firepower up front, and they return Diechert.

2. Grafton.; goaltending an issue, but if they can score more than their opponent, they're in good shape.

3. GFRR; Solid

4. Devils Lake; They will suprise everyone in the east.

5 Central; They will be sleepers come EDC.

6. North; Mr. Hockey candidate.

7. West Fargo; They'll steal some games, but won't make it out of the EDC.

8. Shanley;

9. Wahpeton; nuff said

West:

1. Bismarck; Hillman will win games for them. Defence will be salty. Scoring an issue.

2. Century; Well coached, they'll stay out of the box and beat you with their PP.

3. Minot; Goaltending issues.

4. Jamestown; Perform well when they want to.

5. Williston; Hauganoe returns, tough D

6. Dickinson; They will suprise some teams.

7. Botno; Pass it to Herbel. Could lead the state in Goals.

8. Mandan; Good first line, after that close your eyes

9. Hazen; Will struggle with numbers all year.

East:

1) Fargo South: Solid goaltending, very good depth also well-coached.  Safest pick in the state in my opinion.

2) Grafton: Very explosive going to be winning a lot of 6-4, 5-3 type games this year.

3) Devils Lake: Solid team, weak spot at D, but good nucleus of returning forwards and a strong goaltender.

4) Grand Forks Red River:  Depth is the major concern here, big drop off after Galbreath, LaDoucer, Meland, and Vigen.

5) Grand Forks Central: Simonson will have a break out year and carry his team along with Josh Ness to this spot, lots of one goal wins in this teams future.

tie 6) Fargo North: Erickson in his 2nd year still not the numbers out the spartans would like to see but have solid talent with Klein, Mickleberg, Bombenger, and Beckadahl (sp?), really weak in the net should split with WF and take care of business below them.

tie 6) West Fargo:  Couple elite caliber players in Swanson and Burdick, also watched their JV goaltender from last year steal some games and he is at the reigns this year, seeing wins over wahp, shanley, and a split with North here.

8) Shanley:  Young team, should be filled with struggles, Traynor may get steal them a win against a WF or North.

9) Wahp: Same story, different year.

West:

1) BHS- Hillman will be the states top tender, Will Aide should also break out this season.

2) Jamestown- kind of a gut feeling over here, Welding, Leben, Spenningsby all very solid players, also have a tough arena for opponents to get a win at.  I also believe they will like the WDA schedule compared to the EDC schedule.

3) Minot- if Stremmick-gate  is true it could be the beginning of the end for the Magi as a western power, not a whole heck of a lot of depth.

4) Williston- very good goaltender, Rehak also a stud I see them scraping by Century for this spot

5) CHS- Lost Wentz that will definitely hurt the Pats this season, return a lot off last year should be experienced, but not that skilled, will know more about them after their opening weekend with North and WF.

6) Bottineau- Youth movement in effect, will play very competitively with the Dickinson squad for this spot.

7) Dickinson- may have got there fluke win out of the way a little too early at the jamboree, not a whole lot of upside here, better than last year but not much.

8) Hazen- the loss of McBain will cripple this team for the season.

9) Mandan- Will be competitive with Hazen, Bottineau and Dickinson, but wins will be few and far between.

So is McBain still on Hazen or not?

Tyrel Mcbain will be playing for Fargo South this season. He will have to sit out until the 2nd semester due to the transfer period. Will Aide will not be playing for Bismarck High this season as he will continue to play with the Bismarck Bobcats(NAHL). Aide's statistics are 6 games played, zero goals, one assist and 10 penalty minutes. The Bobcats have played 25 games this season.

1. South- Solid in every aspect of the game.  Very deep both offensively and defensively.  Best goaltender in the state.

2. GFRR- Galbreath and LaDouceur are proven.  Meland will have to prove he can put up numbers without Mihulka.  Lack of depth decent goaltending.

3. GPR- Strong offensive punch, weak/unproven defense, questionable goaltending

Three horse race again in the East and in the state.  Rest of EDC and the west not close to the same level.

4. GFC- Lack of depth offensively and defensively.  Should have a decent top line and solid goaltending.  Always show up to play when EDC and State rolls around.

5. DL- Hard to give much credit after just squeeking by a weak J town team at home. Young team, wait and see how they adapt to the east.

6T. WF- Couple of top notch players and a pretty decent first line.  Questionable goaltending

6T. North- Lack of depth, weak defensively, very very weak goaltending.

8. Shanley- Needs young players to step up and needs solid play from their goaltender in order to compete.  Should steal one or two from WF and North

9. Wahpeton- Lose a lot of seniors. Another struggle.

What a waste for Aide to play for the bobcats.  He obviously rarely even gets to dress and when he does he is unsuccessful.

DL 5-1 over minot is pretty impressive. Central over minot 4-1 was impressive also. Both DL and Central were rated worse than minot in ndhockey. Devils Lake starts off their season 2-0. West Fargo is looking almost like a team...maybe there is some hope for them. What do you predict for the grafton south game?
every practice matters...but every game Counts

Jamestown's top defender (Nic Spenningsby) is out with a compacted vertebrae and Jamestown also has their better goalie ineligible for awhile.
