Bryce Schmitt

I've heard the freshman Bryce Schmitt from Minot has made the varsity hockey team. How will he do this season and in seasons to come, is he the next big thing for North Dakota hockey?

we dont even have our varsity team yet but he will probably be on it he's pretty good for a freshman probably in the next few years you'll see and hear abotu him alot.

Schmitt is on 1st power play with stremick and I think he is able to set up stremick once he gets the hang of the speed. He had 2 goals the other night in GF against EGF. none of the seniors are stepping it up like they should be. No one on the team is standing out so it is leaving the door wide open for some of the underclassmen to take the spotlight. Including Bryce Schmitt

Shanley has 9 freshman playing varsity tis year.....i don't think 1 person on the varsity is enough to start a topic

Then don't post on it, you genius. Schmitt is one of the best young players in the state, and likely much better than anyone on the Fargo Shanley team, freshman or otherwise.

That would be a huge suprise to me if he did. I mean, he isn't even the best freshman in ND right now. On top of that, when Mario Lamerioux was a freshman, he was one of the BEST players in the state and even he was not on a US team.

Mario went overseas for the Five Nations Tournament. That is a big deal and no other north dakota kids ever did that. Get your facts right.

There is a difference between representing the USA on a team picked from various tournaments and being on a USNTDP team.

Mario is not canadian, he was born in Grand Forks. Mario's father Pierre is from Alberta.

You never said the USNDTP team. You said a US team. And he made a US team so I don't know why I was wrong. Either way, being selected to the Five Nations Cup is not easy to do. And I don't think this Schmitt guy will ever be close.

You need to learn how to type before you get on here, but Bryce Schmitt has never been on a USA team. The festival yes, but nothing other than that. He is on the central scouting but he is just a Freshmen.

hes got 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points through 21 games played
i would say they are impressive numbers for a freshman

how are you not impressed? how many freshmen put up 27 points playing against kids mostly two or three years older? i dont see any others this year doing that. i will agree that it is no comparison to Mario.

27 points as a freshman is quite impressive, alot of upper classmen in the state didnt even reach that total. Bryce is the brother of former Minot high player Brandon Schmitt isnt he?
