Here is the official poll, lets try to get as many voters as possible.  Votes can be changed up until the end, which lasts until 1 hour past the championship game.  I will allow a couple more additions in the next 2-3 days if the demand is there.

My vote is to Marc Mihulka. I've seen him play twice this year and one was the South game. I must admit those South players are quite good, and the stats of the others in list are quite impressive, however the actual question is "best all around hs hockey player," which in my mind for hockey equates to 2-way play, both offense and defense. This is why my vote is for Mihulka.

I went with Paul Campbell right now, but im going to East regionals and the state tournament. Thats where the best perform at there best. So my vote could probably change by end of the hockey season.

I too will be attending regionals and the state tournament, so I do believe a lot of votes could be impacted then.

I vote for Erick Galt this kid is an amazing defenseman. There are no defensemen that even compare to this guy.  He can score and pass with any forward in the state also.  Everyone will see what this kid is capable of at EDC and State.

I heard EDC wasn't at the Ralph this year is that true?

i looked it up at the ndhsaa webpage and it said it was at Purpur arena, so as far as i know its not being played at the Ralph.

Yep that is correct. Ive heard of a few different reasons such as the west doesn't think it's fair for the east teams to play in the Ralph before state, another is that the Sioux host Duluth and dont have enough scheduling room to play there, but the reason that ive heard the most and believe is that last year they lost money due to not enough fans came.

While obviously money factors in, I believe the biggest reason is atmosphere. You simply don't get as large a crowd for EDC as you do the State tournament and so the fans are just "lost" in the equation at the regional tourament. They have more of an impact at a place like Purpur in my mind anyway.

I don't see how one cannot vote for Erick Galt here in this years Mr. Hockey...He's a force to be reconned with on the defensive side of the ice, and is 5th in the state in scoring...Talk about an all around player, he is the easy pick for any knowledgable fan.

Mihulka will be lucky to be one of the nominees.  He's no where close to Galt or Weisgarber or either of the Campbells.  I don't know how many get nominated, but unfortunately he will be on the outside looking in;)

Galt and Weisgarber are on a completly different level than anyone else in the state.  Another great player that hasn't been mentioned is Michael Hillman, the goalie from Bismarck High.  He plays for a fairly weak team and gives his team a chance in every game.  The second time Bismarck played South, they were outshot 57-4 but only lost 3-1.  Pretty impressive..

That is good to hear! As North Dakota we wish him the best. However, it is a tough ride to the world of DI hockey.

Agreed, he needs to get bigger.  If he does who knows what he is capable of??
